How To Create An OS X Mavericks USB Installation Drive

Recently Apple made OS X Mavericks as a free download for all Mac users. This is a great news for all Mac owners. If you want to clean install OS X Mavericks on your Mac first you’ll need to create a bootable OS X Mavericks USB Flash drive.

Follow these simple steps to create a bootable OS X Mavericks USB Drive:

1.Download OS X Mavericks from the Mac App Store.

2.Insert your USB drive and open Disk Utility.

3.Select your drive and and erase the disk and format drive as “Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and name as “Untitled”.

4.Now close the Disk Utility and open terminal window and copy paste this command from into the terminal.

sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia –volume /Volumes/Untitled –applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app –nointeraction

5.Now press enter , wait for 20 minutes this process takes some time to complete. Don’t eject or cancel the drive while in the process.

6.After completing process it shows a message ‘process is finished’. Now restart the computer and hold the option key to access the boot menu.

Requirements:

Minimum 8GB USB Drive.
