How To Root Google Nexus 5 On Android KitKat 4.4

The new Nexus 5 is a awesome device with great features, if you want to turn it into a much friendly device root it. Recently Nexus 5 is successfully rooted by Chainfire at XDA Developer’s forum.

The rooting procedure of Nexus 5 uses fastboot and re-booting using a version of Chainfire’s famous CF-Auto-Root specifically built for the Nexus 5 as the boot image.

Requirements:

Google Nexus 5 with Android KitKat 4.4 Installed
Fastboot drivers
CF-Auto-Root for Nexus 5

Nexus 5 Rooting Guide:

1.Download the CF-Auto-Root package and extract its contents on desktop.
2.Boot the Nexus 5 into fastboot by powering off, and then pressing and holding volume down and power buttons at the same time.
3.Connect your phone to your computer via USB and install any driver if required.
4.Run the CF-Auto-Root script, it varies from Windows, Mac and Linux.

For Windows:

Double-click the root-windows.bat file from the extracted CF-Auto-Root files.

For Mac:

Open Terminal, navigate to the directory where you extracted the CF-Auto-Root package, and enter the following commands one by one.

chmod +x root-mac.sh
./root-mac.sh

For Linux:

Open Terminal, navigate to the directory where you extracted the CF-Auto-Root package, and enter the following commands one by one.

chmod +x root-linux.sh
./root-linux.sh

Follow any on device instructions while unlocking the bootloader if prompted.

Now enjoy your Nexus 5 with root access.
