Nokia – the brand name, though, is quite old and well known for years in the world of mobile phones now with its Windows Smartphone series has come forward again, this time even more powerful phones, namely Nokia Lumia series. The Lumia Smartphone series embraces, Lumia 520, Lumia 610, Lumia 620, Lumia 720, Lumia 820, Lumia 920, and much more, and the most popular one is Nokia Lumia 1020 because of its 41 Megapixels primary camera that plays a significant role in its popularity in the world of smartphones. As per the standard parameters, we reviewed the product and what we found out is mentioned below:
Look, Feel, and Design
Nokia Lumia 1020 Smartphone in the Nokia store is available in three dazzling colors – yellow, black, and white, with its matte finished and coated surface that is both fingerprints and dirt resistant. In its formal appearance, the sides and back of the Smartphone are given a well-polished and smoothly curved shape that makes it look fantastic. Besides, the Gorilla Glass 3 on its front makes it smooth and flush with the edges, which enables you to run your fingers across the phone’s surfaces without any disruptions. However, you cannot ignore that the Smartphone is quite slippery, and it fails to let you make grip around it.
The upper and lower sides of this device are kept flat so as to position it perpendicularly. Fortunately, the Smartphone weighs 158g (5.57 ounce) that is much less as compared to it’s predecessor – Nokia Lumia 920 that weighs 185g (6.53 ounce). Besides, this Smartphone, as per the measurement thickens 0.41 inches (10.4mm), whereas Lumia 920 thickens 10.7mm. Another parameter states that Lumia 1020 is 0.6mm wider than Lumia 920. Well, a slight widening of a Smartphone matters a lot for those who like to carry it in their hands, which does not make a big difference for others.
Camera – The Point Of Attention
Well, when it comes to choosing a Smartphone, having a fantastic camera, everyone today takes only one name – Nokia Lumia 1020 – that has a 41MP primary camera that takes your photography and video capturing experience to a level beyond the seventh cloud of imagination. Earlier to this, the manufacturer (i.e. Nokia) had announced (in 2012) a Symbian-powered smart feature phone, namely Nokia 808 PureView, offering 41MP camera. However, this Windows Smartphone is the very first device in the industry to have a 41Mp camera, giving HD images and videos alike a DSLR. The additional features of the camera are Auto focus, Xenon flash, LED, Night mode, Back-illuminated sensor, Digital zoom, Self-timer and a lot more.
Not to forget, the device also has a 1.3MP secondary (or front) camera that enables video calling and chatting on various social platforms, viz. Facebook, Google Plus, Skype, WeChat, and more.

As I have already mentioned, Nokia Lumia 1020 is a Windows Smartphone, which runs Windows Phone 8 operating system. Since this is not the very first Windows-based Smartphone, and I consider you are well aware of the Live Tile-based interface. Along with the UI experience of other Windows Phones in Nokia Lumia series, the device features a full suite of OEM, plus some other apps, including Music, Nokia Care, Smart Cam, Pro Cam, and a few Local based apps, viz. Maps, City Lens, Transit, etc.
In addition to the features that every other Smartphone includes, the Windows 8 based device includes ‘Nokia Photo Transfer for Mac’, ‘Exchange ActiveSync’, ‘Mac companion app’, and ‘Windows companion app’. All these features run extremely well on a 1.5GHz Dual-core processor (i.e. Qualcomm Snapdragon S4) and a 2GB of Primary memory (i.e. RAM).
Connectivity and Data Network
Nokia Lumia 1020, the Windows Phone 8 based Smartphone is bundled with a large set of features, including Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, micro USB, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi hot spot (up to 8), and many other features like NFC, TV-Out, Tethering, DLNA, Computer sync, and OTA sync for data sharing. Battery and Power Management
Smartphones users have been complaining about the battery backup for a long time. Considering the point as the prime issue, Nokia Lumia 1020 is said to offer a battery backup of up to 19 hours of talk time, benefiting from a 2000mAh battery. As per the earlier smartphone reviews, Smartphone’s display consumes most of the battery power. Nokia Lumia 1020 has an AMOLED panel display that consumes much less battery power.
As per the criteria for testing a Smartphone, we clicked a lot of pictures, watched videos, listened to music, surfed the Internet, played games, used the talk time, etc., and we come up with the result that Nokia Lumia 1020 is well designed, perfectly built, full featured, high-speed data sharing and Internet connectivity, and amazing quality camera Smartphone.
Overall, this SmartPhone managed to get 4.5 stars out of 5 and recommended to be the best Windows Phone 8 Smartphone from Nokia ever.
