How To Update Nexus 5 To Android 4.4.4 AICP KitKat Custom ROM

Now the users of Nexus 5 can update their device to AICP developed KitKat Custom ROM. The ROM is developed by Android Ice Cold Project, this is not an official release by LG or Google, it is a custom ROM which would require a recovery like ClockworkMod and your phone to be rooted in order to flash the ROM zip file on your phone.

  • First backup all your contacts, call logs and SMS.

How To Update Nexus 5 To Android 4.4.4 AICP KitKat Custom ROM

1.Download the Android 4.4.4 AICP KitKat Custom ROM  for Nexus 5  to your computer and extract files on the desktop.

2.Now connect your Nexus 5   to your computer and transfer files to your SD card and also copy/paste the boot.img file to android-sdk-windows\platform-tools directory.

3.Switch off your phone and get in the bootloader mode by turning on the phone by pressing and holding the volume down+power buttons.

4.Follow the on screen instructions select bootloader and then recovery.

5.Here perform a full data wipe by selecting “wipe data/factory reset”, cache wipe by selecting “wipe cache partition” and also perform wipe dalvik cache .

6.Now go to main screen and select “install zip from SD card”. Navigate using volume keys and select Android 4.4.4 ROM zip file that you copied to your SD card and select it using the Power button.

7.After installations go back and reboot the device “reboot system now” from the recovery menu.

For the confirmation go to Settings>>About phone to verify the firmware update.
