How To Update Nexus 6 To Android 6.0 Marshmallow Developer Preview 3

Android 6.0 Marshmallow announced yesterday along with developer previews for Nexus devices. Nexus owners will experience the taste of Marshmallow first then other devices. Now Nexus 6 owners can enjoy Android 6.0 Marshmallow developer preview 3 firmware update.

In few days, Google is planning to release Developer Preview 3 via OTA, but if you can’t wait for OTA you can manually update the firmware. In this article we have written detailed instruction for updating device.

Pre-Requisites

  • First backup all your contacts, call logs and SMS.
  • Enable USB debugging mode from Settings->Applications->Development->USB debugging in your device.
  • Install latest Nexus 6 drives on your computer.

How To Update Nexus 6 To Android 6.0 Marshmallow Developer Preview 3

1.First download the Android 6.0 Marshmallow MPA44G Factory Image on your computer and extract using 7zip on your desktop.

2.Now enter into download mode by pressing and holding volume up+volumeown+power buttons together.

3.After pressing buttons, the device shows the fastboot menu.

4.Now go to the extracted files on your computer MPA44G and then copy/paste all the files to your Fastboot directory.

5.From the fastboot directory perform the process depending on your operating system.

  • Windows: Run the file “flash-all.bat
  • Mac: Run the file “flash-all.sh” using Terminal
  • Linux: Run the file “flash-all.sh

6.After successful flash/install, the firmware the device will restart. Unplug the device your computer. It usually takes 5 min time to boot after the firmware update.

For the confirmation go to Settings>>About tablet to verify the firmware update.
