For downloading music files from Spotify in desktop (Windows or Mac computers) follow the simple steps given below.

  1. Open Spotify on your computer.
  2. Click on the playlist you want to save offline.
  3. Toggle Available Offline button to green at the top of the playlist. While in progress, it will show a circulating animation.
    Note: Users will be only able to download playlists that they follow, or have created their self.
  4. To see the download progress, you can look into the left-hand column.
  5. A green arrow means it’s finished downloading the song for offline view.
  6. After finishing the download, start listening to your music without the internet by navigating to File > Offline Mode.

Note: Spotify will automatically redirect you to the offline mode once you lost the internet connection. So that, you don’t have to navigate manually each time you access Spotify.

Note: For your knowledge, downloading the music files over the mobile data connection is disabled by default in iPhones. So, tap Download using cellular in your Settings to enable it and overcome the issue. But, in case you need to save your mobile data, we recommend connecting to a nearby wifi network to download music files. You could save almost anything in your Spotify app including playlists, artists, albums, songs, and podcasts saved in Your Library.

  1. After connecting to WiFi or cellular network, go to Songs, playlistartist, or album which you want to make available offline.
  2. After navigating to any one of them, toggle Available Offline button to green.
  3. Similar to the desktop version, download progress will be displayed at the top of Your Library.
  4. When they’ve finished downloading, you will see a green arrow next to the playlists or songs.

After finishing the download of Spotify music files, how you listen to them? Follow these steps.

  1. Tap Your Library in the menu at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Select Settings option.
  3. Then, Select Playback from it.
  4. Toggle Offline Mode to green.

  2. At the top of the screen, toggle Available Offline button to green as you’ve seen in above methods.
  3. The download progress will be displayed at the top of Your Library in case you need to keep an eye on them.
  4. A green arrow next to playlists and tracks is the download completion signal.

After downloading, you could start listening to them without an internet connection by following these steps.

  1. Navigate to the Menu > Settings > Playback.
  2. Simply toggle Offline Mode to green.

Note: In iPads too, you will be put into the offline mode if you don’t have an active internet connection.
