Not all work happens in the office. Sometimes you’ve got to get out to see a client, other days you might be working from home, however, you still need to be functioning efficiently wherever you are.
Luckily, we live in an age where it’s possible to be as efficient outside the office as you are inside it, so what steps should you be taking?
One of the simplest ways to stay abreast of what’s happening while you’re out and about is through wearable tech. You can get smart watches for men and women that give you simple, convenient notifications that help keep you up to date and looped in.
With an almost endless number of apps, you can choose how connected you need to be, giving you the power to organize your work on the go. Things don’t stop while you’re out of the office, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be kept in the loop.
An autoresponder might not give you the cutting-edge tech that wearable tech does, but it will serve an important purpose. People need to be able to get hold of you, but there are going to be times when that’s just not possible.
Rather than having clients and colleagues stressing out about why you’re not responding, keep them in the loop and set expectations for them. Your autoresponder should let them know what’s going on and when they can expect a reply.
The cloud has made it exceedingly easy to work from wherever we want to. You can now access files through the cloud whenever and wherever you want. However, you’ve got to make sure your business is set up with the right software to make the most of this.
There are lots of different cloud options, so it’s important you find the one that fits your business’s needs. If you’ve got the right cloud capabilities then it’s going to make a huge difference to your ability to work on the go.
Communication is often easiest when you’re talking with someone face to face. When you’re working on the go that’s not possible though, so you’ve got to focus on your communication even more.
Again, you have all the technology you need to do this, it’s just a case of being aware of the added need to communicate effectively. If you can boost your communication skills, then it’s going to make a big difference in your ability to work efficiently away from the office.
Break Things Up
Just because you’re away from the office doesn’t mean you don’t need to take breaks. Sometimes, people can feel like it’s a privilege to be away from the office and see it as slacking if they take time to have a rest.
This isn’t the case though, and you still need to take breaks in order to give your best performance throughout the day. If you work smart and break your day up, then you’ll find you probably get more done.
