The new Redmi Note 2 is the true hero for Xiaomi. The company is popular for a budget handset with signature style and performance. Redmi Note 2 is the next successful version after Redmi Note first generation. With a whole spec of upgrades, the new Redmi Note 2 is ready to take on the market.

Build Quality & Features

The build is superior when compared to the old version. Design wise you have a lot of differences starting with back panel and all the way to the front. The phone does not heat up despite excessive usage, and the rear panel is tough enough to stop the heat outside. The device is very compact and feels very soft and great in hands.

It features a 5.5-inch display which has Full HD resolution (1080p) with a pixel density of 400ppi. The phone utilizes the Helio X10 Octa Core processor clocked at 2.0GHz with PowerVR G6200 GPU. There is a 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 super aperture and 5MP front camera along with Android 5.1 Lollipop.

The rear panel has the 13MP camera, a single LED flash, Mi logo and the speaker located at the bottom. The front panel has the 5.5-inch display, front 5MP camera and also three capacitive backlit buttons. The device is slim towards the edges, so holding it is pretty easy in every condition.

Performance

As we know the device is powered by Helio X10 Octa Core processor clocked at 2.0GHz. The performance of Redmi Note 2 Laser was pretty good and we never encountered any lags or crashes in the normal usage. Coming to Camera the Redmi Note 2 sports a 13MP rear camera. The camera performance of the device is good, the photos taken in daylight, Redmi Note 2 camera has plenty of details, color reproduction is very good and the white balance is up to the level.

Coming to display it has 5.5-inch FHD display, the display is sharp and looks great. The brightness levels are also good and the readability in outdoors is also good. The display is great for multimedia and also gaming. The touch response is also very smooth and felt a very soft touch on the screen. The gaming experience of the device was good and the 5.5 inch HD display is suited for it. You can play most of the high-end games without issues. Overall, we would say this is one of the best displays in this price point.

The phone comes with 16GB internal storage and out of which 12.5GB is available. You can also expand the storage via micro SD card up to 32GB. The phone also comes with Mi Cloud, which is the cloud storage from the Xiaomi and you can upload files there if you want an additional backup to your files.

The rear speaker performance was decent and ring sound is very clear. The call quality on the device was good and we never experienced any call drops and the signal strength was good. The network performance of 2G, 3G, and 4G is good. The device comes with 3060mAh battery powerful enough to provide one-day usage.

Verdict

Priced at below $170, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 makes excellent value for money with great build quality, excellent display, and good performance. If you are looking for a promising performance phablet the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is your first choice.
