OnePlus X Review: Design and Build Quality

OnePlus X has a very attractive industrial design with the combination of Metal frame, Onyx and Glass as its build materials. The metal frame fits into the sides while Onyx cover in the back side. In the front side, Glass cover is used. Both the front and back are reflective like a mirror. It clearly says that this design is impressed by iPhone 4 of Apple, which has the same mirror look in front and back.

The entire build is very sturdy as there is no plastic or flexible materials used in the covers. It has a slightly rounded edge in the corners which gives a compactness to hold. At the top, 3.5 mm earphone jack is located and in the bottom USB port is added. On the right side, it has the Sim tray holder which can be located using the pin hole, volume buttons and power button. The Phone looks thin with 6.9 mm thickness for a 5.0-inch screen. This may be the thinnest design in the 5.0-inch screen category. Overall, the design attracts anyone looking and for those who looking for a high-class stylish Brand design, OnePlus X may satisfy them.

OnePlus X Review: Display

It has a 5.0-inch Display with an FHD screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. FHD resolution in 5.0-inch screen is an advantage in many ways. It will give more clarity and better picture quality than a 5.5-inch screen as well as the lesser screen will reduce the battery load to some extent.

AMOLED technology is used in the display, which again reduces the consumption of a battery in addition to the smaller screen. Screen density is 441 pixels per inch which is the highest density in smartphones and it results in a high clarity in the display. For looking into the HD photos and videos, this is a great deal.

OnePlus X Review: Hardware and OS Performance

Like in their old models, OnePlus picked Snapdragon as the chipset for OnePlus X. It uses Snapdragon 801 processor with Quad-core and maximum clock speed of 2.3 GHz, which is more than enough for now – buggy performance. Graphical Processing Unit is Adreno 330, which is a high-end processor to load maximum power when graphical games or apps running.

In the memory section, 3 GB RAM and 16 GB ROM added. This is a better combination for multitasking in the Android phones. Some may feel 16 GB is a little low for a high-end model. Here, they got expandable external memory up to 128 GB.

OnePlus Oxygen OS is used in the OnePlus X device which is their own made OS based on stock Android. Oxygen OS is considered as the best OS based on stock Android ever. It gives so many feature and user interface that we cannot see in the stock Android OS. Here another advantage has OnePlus tweaked the Oxygen OS as much as they can to improve the overall performance of their devices.  It brings us a unique experience which we cannot feel in any other OS.

OnePlus X Camera

Cameras are becoming a most anticipated feature in the smartphone. Some people ready to buy a smartphone only for its camera quality. It causes a tough fight between high-end models to grab their seat in camera quality. OnePlus X has a 13 MP camera in the back and a 8 MP camera in the front. The flashlight is available in the back side.

Here, one thing needs to be noted. Just the highly configured camera lens won’t bring a top quality picture. In that case, OnePlus X has a high clarity display, which makes a huge difference in picture quality. Also, it has more tweaking options in the camera app to set it to our desired results. 13 MP and 8 MP camera lens is a high-end specification do far and in the sharp display quality, it scores more.

Connectivity

It has 4G LTE connectivity, which is the latest technology. Also, it has 3G, GSM and WiFi to connect to the internet. GPS and Bluetooth technology are enabled in this phone.

Price

OnePlus X comes with a price tag of $295.99 in the pre-sale. Those who are already in a rush to pick the new OnePlus model can book their piece in this pre-sale. Later this phone will be available only in Flagship or Invite to Buy method, which may reduce the chances of availability sometimes.

Battery

Battery capacity is 2450 mAh only. This is little doubtful capacity for such high-end hardware device. But, OnePlus is very confident in the fact that this battery will stay a long time after they tweaked the OS and hardware interface. Also, we noticed their decision in picking a 5.0-inch screen and AMOLED display to reduce the battery consumption. One good news about the battery is it got a quick charge facility. It may reduce the burden for many people.

Verdict

OnePlus proved their excellence 2 times before with OnePlus One and OnePlus Two. Their strength is their own made OS and a high-end hardware combination. They tweaking their devices even after the release in software sections. Oxygen OS is one such example. OnePlus X has all the brand feature with an awesome design that attracts and feel good. There is nothing I can say new about Snapdragon 801 chip, as everyone knows about. In addition to the 3 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM and a good camera lens, we got a sturdy, attractive design from a OnePlus brand. This is a great deal for Brand lovers.
