Logitech M720 Triathlon Review

logitech-m720-triathlon-review

The Logitech M720 Triathlon is a rare jack of all trades and an effortless master of them all. Multi-purpose, multi-use and multi-fun, it’s a must have accessory if you value productivity and possess multiple computing devices that you want to wield like an orchestral conductor.

If you are like me and do enjoy the crispy taste of Windows OS, mixed with grilled Mac and cheesy Linux, let’s jump together and high-five it brah! That multi combo can be some rad fun and lead to some fab times, but problems do crop up. Like pairing and re-pairing your Bluetooth mouse when you switch your OS from the particular flavor of the day to another. Or having multiple devices just for each customized setup. Which can be a really expensive -not to mention stressful- downer, but somewhat worth it all the same with the taste of all those aforementioned OS sitting pretty on the tongue. Still, if you do get tired of all that, here comes the cavalry riding into the rescue. The Logitech M720 Triathlon enables the easy and effortless switching between multiple OS and computing devices, all at the touch of a single -and we don’t doubt Aladdin-worthy magical- button. Why the ‘Triathlon’ name? Probably referring to its ability to run long distance races in either your living room or at work as you put it through its rather grueling paces, without it faltering in the least.

According to Logitech, the mouse was expressly designed to rocket-boost productivity, and with its Easy-Switch Technology permits the effortless pairing and switching amongst several OS and screens. Logitech further informs us, skeptical fellas, that the mouse employs dual connectivity, thereby enabling the connecting of your devices through either the provided Logitech Unifying Receiver or the Bluetooth Smart wireless tech.  The M720 Triathlon additionally sports a hyper-fast scroll wheel and is as durable as they come. And also endlessly customizable to fit your exact needs and specifications no matter the OS you are repping. So, you and you alone get to decide which button does what, when and how. From Windows to Mac, Chrome, and even Android, it rides them all with aplomb and skill. You can only get the full range of options and benefits though by downloading and installing the Logitech Options Software for both Mac OS and Windows.

The Logitech M720 Triathlon comes covered in grippy plastic designed to mold into your paws for the most perfect possible fit while looking about ready to take off any moment and rocket around your head. Its a full-size mouse too rather than the comparatively ‘tiny’ pieces Logitech has lately been planting on us. Buttons enough for the gadget lover -8- grace the mouse: a left click and a right click button guarding a scroll wheel that can dance in 4 different directions, but not simultaneously of course! On the left edge, you get three illuminated buttons that let you know exactly which device you are connected to.

Battery life is around 24 months via the non-rechargeable onboard single AA battery, while the price is Rs. 4,995. The Logitech M720 Triathlon sure does a lot without once flagging or breaking into an undignified sweat. Sure, its expensive, except when you calculate all the de-cluttering, stress reducing and productivity boosting it will undoubtedly do for you. Then, you discover it’s rather cheap for the price and a champion runner.
