In the past few models, Asus seems to be concentrating on the photography enhancements by including catchy photography features to the cameras. Now, they are on the latest Laser device that even enhanced the already excellent camera. Even if the first look at the smartphone not exhibiting the camera concentration as on the Asus Zenfone Zoom, it has something interesting to experience.
After a series of reviews based on the Asus products, we are now into the Asus Zenfone 3 Laser to help you out to explore more details regarding the smartphone. You could use this as a guide if you are planning to own one piece and want to know more about it before spending some money on it. So, let’s have a detailed review of the Asus Zenfone 3 Laser smartphone.
Asus Zenfone 3 Laser Design
The design of the product is nothing much different from the usual Asus products and is catching at the first look itself. Having a smooth, vivid body attracts our eyes towards it to a great extent. The front portion has no changes at all from the usual designs while the backside looks a little attractive with the fingerprint sensor placed underneath the camera. The curved edges gives a Xiaomi like feel while looking from the back and also enhances the grip on the hand. We felt comfy while handling the device.
In terms of the design, the product is nothing more or nothing less. It is simply a good design which suits almost of the needs of any users. It is available in both silver and gold colors which could be better if had more variants. Luckily Asus has not seemed to be following the Apple path by removing the headphone jack. It is there in the place without any further changes. The lower side of the device looks stunning with the net structure speakers and the USB port.
Asus Zenfone 3 Laser Features
Now, let’s talk a little about the features of the Laser. There is nothing special to notice on this device other than some good peripherals replaced the old ones. To say one, Fingerprint sensor is there on the back that enables an extra layer of security. Have a deep look into the features below.
Display
The Zenfone 3 Laser has a decent 5.5-Inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. The visuals look stunning even in high lighting conditions. The touch screen is free from bubble formation with a glare-free coating which makes it good for use in daylight. In addition, it has a scratch protection layer that protects the screen from small tears while handling roughly. So users can put it in their pocket with the car keys or the credit cards without worrying about the accidental scratches.
Performance
The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz. The integrated Adreno 505 GPU provides even better performance. 4GB RAM is there to support multitasking capabilities by joining the CPU in the process. 32GB ROM is enough for the regular users which could be later expanded upto 128GB based on the needs. For the price tag, the features looks satisfying while other companies with same specs charges almost double of this.
The performance of the Zenfone 3 Laser satisfied us in all our testing procedures. It has good startup speed, can play high-end games without any problems, performs well in multi-tasking, and the network speed is also not affected. But some bloatware still consuming resources without any need at all.
Camera
The camera oriented smartphone is coming with a 13.0 MP back camera with noticeable features such as a wide variety of picture modes. It includes Manual, HDR Pro, Beautification, Super Resolution, Low-light, QR Code, Night, Depth of Field, Effect, Selfie, Panorama, Miniature, GIF animation, Time Rewind, Slow Motion, and Time Lapse. The images looks stunning as you can see from the examples given below.
#Will Provide Soon
The selfie camera is also not that bad with a resolution of 8.0 MP. The images are much vivid than the previously tested Asus devices and provides more clarity throughout the pixels. It will be perfect for the selfie addicts. We tested it in high lighting conditions as well as in low lighting. The camera performed better so that we were satisfied with it.
Software
It is running on the Android 6.0 Marshmallows OS overlayed by the ZenUI 3. Even if the big firmware names looks stunning on the device, it has a lot of bloatware floating around. Numerous applications which even don’t necessarily needed by a smartphone is filled up inside. Some previous Asus devices also had this issue, and it indicates that Asus still have to concentrate more on improving their firmware by removing unwanted apps from the device. The performance is not that affected by this except in serious multitasking conditions.
Connectivity
The device comes with all the basic connectivity features including the 4G LTE. The dual sim card slots enhance the capability to be productive in your business without having to carry multiple devices in the pocket. As mentioned, the headphone jack is there without any problems, and we should thank Asus for not following the Apple way. From our tests, the connectivity looks nice as long as we tested. Some features like NFC, Infrared, USB OTG are not there on the device.
To enhance the security features, there is a fingerprint sensor with good enhancements such as faster recognition. The accuracy of the detection also looks good with a success rate of more than 99%. It is placed under the back camera for a perfect reach of the fingers.
Price
There is a vast price difference in the retail market and the online market for Asus ZenFone 3 Laser smartphones. In Indian currency, it costs about INR 18000 to INR 19000. When compared to other brands with the same pricing, the Asus ZenFone 3 Laser is unparalleled in its design and technical features.
