Nomu S20 is a rugged smartphone with IP68 certification. It is a mid-level smartphone in terms of specifications, price, and performance. Nomu S20 Review: Design and Build
The device is well designed to withstand any environment. If we compare the design with other rugged smartphones, Nomu S20 looks sleek and decent. The backside is covered with a rubber back. The ports are covered by flap to avoid water damage. Nomu S20 cannot be damaged by water even if kept under 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes. All the sides of the smartphone are closed and hence water or dust cannot damage the inner components.
The camera is located on the top of the rear side and the selfie shooter located in the front. On the right side, it has a power button and volume rockers. Nomu S20 has rounded edges.
Display
Nomu S20 sports a 5.0-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixels resolution. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protective cover. It could be better if it has 1080p resolution. The 720p resolution is good but cannot produce quality as same as the full HD screens.
Hardware and Software Performance
Nomu S20 packs MediaTek MT6737 Quad-core processor with 1.5GHz processor and 3GB of RAM. The CPU is paired with the Mali T720 GPU. The individual processor analysis proves, this is an average mid-level processor. But when it is analyzed along with the 3GB of RAM, the performance is acceptable. Mainly, the multitasking and gaming performance is decent like other mid-level smartphones with octa-core chipsets.
The internal storage in Nomu S20 is 32GB in size. It is expandable up to 32GB using microSD card. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow. We miss Android 7.0 Nougat in S20. As of now majority of android smartphones still running Marshmallow. But that cannot be an excuse. In S20, gesture features and motion control are added as special user interface features.
Camera
It has 8MP rear camera interpolated to 13MP and 2MP front camera interpolated to 5MP. We have analyzed the picture taken using Nomu S20. The results shows in both the front and rear cameras, the daylight pictures are pretty good and low light pictures are average.
Battery
It is powered by a 3000mAh battery. On moderate use, it stands throughout the day. We feel it as a decent performance. There is no fast charging feature.
Verdict
Nomu S20 is a rugged smartphone, which is the first impression of this device. With this impression in mind, the results of various analysis shows this is a value for money.
