Star Wars Battle Quad Review

The Star Wars battle quad is a truly worthwhile piece of fun that brings all your favorite Star Wars battle scenes right up to your eyeballs in orgasmic detail.

From toy maker Propel comes the latest jets you need to hone your skills for when the Universe needs you to save it from the Dark Lord. These include the mighty Millennium Falcon, a T-65 X-wing starfighter, a Tie Advanced X1, and last but not least a 74-Z speeder bike with a scout sitting all dandy on it. All culled from the endlessly thrilling offerings of the Star Wars franchise. All flyable and deadly armed with laser cannons and rendered in exacting detail down to the paint and fine print. Pity though that they come able to fit in your paws rather than as big as life. And that the laser armament is as harmful as a carefully baked shortbread biscuit.

The drones are the product of years of development and as convincing-looking as a butter-filled scone, particularly for Star Wars fans of which am a proud member. They come equipped with user-switchable batteries and four props, which are designed to be somewhat invisible when you set them to whirling. So, in effect, you just see your favorite starship magically come to life and do tricks in the air. Oddly, the rotors are upside down rather than the other way around. Not to worry though as it uses a different means of tech to get your Star wars craft airborne. Called reverse propulsion, they build up air pressure underneath the things and hence push them off the ground and into the wild blue beyond.

In case you got a shaky hand to actually pilot one of mankind’s most important starships, a beginner mode is available to teach you the basics. While pros can, of course, get straight to work on fighting the evil forces of the Empire. What do we like best? The laser armaments which are really fascinating to watch when they get in action pounding the opposition. You can team up with your best mate and do battle, or with up to 12 other people. With each hit to your ship, your controller will shudder in sympathy. With three directs hits, its fatality, and game over as the loser drone will slowly spiral to the ground. Touch the controller shoulder button and your drone will flip right over like a well-trained pet. The controller can additionally play Star Wars soundtracks, audio, and apt quotes when you plug in headphones to it, all of course synchronized to tie into the action taking place overhead.

And let’s forget, Propel really knows how to tug the heartstrings with the details it packs on these. They are exactamento and absolutely rad. Each will also come in a presentation case with a model of the ship on the front. Open it up and you get speakers playing the Star Wars theme or quoting the Force. Care to keep it for your grandkids? Sure you can as each model comes wax-sealed. Top speed for all is 40 mph, with 35 mph sprints possible in around 3 seconds. Flight time is 6-8 minutes with spare batteries included in the box to extend the air fight as long as you don’t get airsick.

Availability is right now and the price starts from $285. The Millennium Falcon is not included though and will join the rest of the team sometime next year. These quadcopter drones promise to make a really big splash these holidays amongst all sorts of people. And are awesomely fascinating. If you ever dreamed of flying a starfighter or other alien craft, now is the time to raise your hand, go to the shop and get these.
