OPPO A3S Review

OPPO A3S Review

Oppo recently is coming with some of the great devices in its past. The Oppo’s full display device is the best. Now Oppo comes with a budget device in India named as the Oppo A3s. Let us have a look at the device if it is just having the selfie feature, or it has the ability to throw away the rest of the devices from the price market. Also if the device is having the same level of innovation as its higher ranged products have. Let us found out in the review ahead.

Design & Build

The Oppo A3s comes with a design which is going to impress all the low ranged buyers. The design of the Oppo A3s is inspired from the top of the line products with a notched display. There is also a chin at the bottom of the phone which makes it look a bit odd that the other devices, but considering the price point, it looks great and amazing.

On the back, we have a dual camera unit which is placed just like we find on the iPhone 7 Plus or the 8 Plus, with the same place for the flash unit also. We have the Oppo branding to the center of the back. Volume Rocker is found to the left, while the power button to the right of the phone. The Oppo A3s is built with a unibody metal design. This makes the phone solid and tough. The device looks good to hold and gives a solid feeling.

Display

Oppo A3s rocks an FHD+ display with a 6.2 – inch screen size. Oppo claims the display to be a Super Full-Screen display. Viewing angles on the phone is the best in the price range, and we can easily see the screen without any washing out of colors on extreme angles. The phone comes with a good amount of saturation and colors in the display and this makes it ahead of any other display panel in the price range.

Oppo has used flux dispensing technology, this makes the bezels of the display as narrow as possible. The phone is featuring a screen to body ratio of 88.8% which is ahead of any other device in the particular range. The display panel of the device is so good that we can easily read the display in harsh sunlight. Even in the night, the panel can be dimmed to a nice level so that we can easily use the display during the night time.

Performance

The phone rocks the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450SoC which is the top of the line CPU from Qualcomm in the 400 – series of chips. Assisting the Quad Core CPU is 2Gigs of RAM which is really low as per the standards. The phone gets 16GB of storage along with 2GB of RAM. This is the only version available of the device, and hence there is no higher storage and RAM option available.

Although the CPU can perform really well RAM shortage is surely goanna affect the performance of the device. In day to day usage mostly for calls, WhatsApp, and a bit of social media, it won’t be a huge concern, but when it comes to real-world performance especially in Gaming and multi-tasking, the phone will lack behind most of the phones.

Camera

On the camera front, the Oppo A3s rocks a 13MP sensor at the back which gets assistance from a 2MP secondary sensor helping the device to get Bokeh effect. On the front camera, we get an 8MP sensor. Both the sensors on the phone are assisted by AI technology which is going to help you look more beautiful in the selfies.

The pictures from the phone look great. Overall the images are well saturated and have a good level of contrast and brightness. The colors from the phone pop out and make all the different colors look good. At times the front camera takes a few soft pictures, which are again redone by AI and makes them look really artificial. Being assisted by AI helps some time especially in a brightly lit environment.

The images although are good, but doesn’t stand out with the competition especially at night, or low light photography, even the selfies from the display are not good during the night times.

Battery

The phone features a 4,230 mAh battery which makes it the best choice if you are looking for a budget phone, with a long battery life. The battery lasts for more than 2 days if the phone is just used for normal work such as calls and messages. If you are using the phone for social media, WhatsApp, and light calls then also the phone can make up to 1 & ½ day without any issue. Charging the phone is a headache as the phone gets a 1.5Amps charger which is a really slow charger and tops the phone from 20% in more than 3 Hrs.

Verdict

The Oppo A3s is a good phone for someone who is looking for a good looking device with an average performance in camera. Looks wise the phone outperforms any other device in the price range and does look ahead of its price bracket. With the notched display the phone does follows the trend, and the uniquely wired 19:9 ratio display.

Although Oppo has the capability, in the mid-range market they are not delivering the best, the device is highly priced, and we must not prefer using such device only for the looks. Oppo A3s is a good performer only for a daily user, there are tons of devices in the price range such as the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Honor 9i, Nokia 6, and many others. If you have not read the review of the above devices then do have a look at those. Also, comment if you think Oppo has done right with the device in terms of specs and performance factors. Let us know if you will be opting for the A3s in the near future for 10,990 INR.
