Vivo V11 Review

Vivo V11 Review

Notch game is something that everyone is stepping into, and Vivo and Oppo have always been the first to opt into the new innovation. The all-new V11 is another step into the same line with a notched display, here we only have a teardrop-shaped notch which will just accommodate the front camera unit of the phone. We will be talking about the phone more in detail in just a second.

First do make your mind about the lesser premium body style with a polycarbonate body, and not an aluminum one we get in premium devices. Hence if you are ok with the less premium body, then proceed with the review to see if Vivo V11 is something that you might like for the next couple of months in your hand, and flaunt with the in screen fingerprint scanner, and also use the all screen device which will do make you feel great.

Design & Build

The glass is something that every other premium phone is going to offer, and same is the case with the Vivo V11 where on the front we have a huge glass slab covering the whole front of the phone. Even on the back, we have a glass panel and this covers the overall phone with the premium material. But the frame of the phone is made up of plastic which will do hurt the grip of the device. The frame being plastic is quite slippery and glossy. Being a plastic and glass phone it is quite slippery hence if you do own one then make sure you use a case on it.

Being a plastic and glass build the phone does suffer on the build quality side, and hence you are not going to have the exact feel of holding a real premium device, but do note that Vivo and Oppo know how to actually make devices which are made up of plastic and other such materials. Although the phone will feel a bit plasticky but will do feel that it is put together in a really well condition. Talking about the placements of different parts we have the dual camera setup at the back of the device with the Vivo logo at the exact middle of the phone. On the front, we do have a small notch.

Display

Vivo loaded the Vivo V11 with a 6.41” display which makes it one of the largest display in the world to have in display fingerprint scanner. The panel used on the phone is a Super AMOLED one which happens to be in an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, the colors on this panel are vibrant and have a great number of contrast levels. The pixel density of the display is quite decent at 402 PPI and hence you will surely enjoy the display of the phone when you are viewing any type of web content or any video. Resolution of the panel is not that high and is capped at just 1080 x 2340 which is quite low considering the fact that phones with this size have at least QHD+ resolution.

In the day to day life using the screen is quite good and vibrant and for sure is going to mesmerize your eyes with the colors it is going to produce. At the end of the day when you are viewing the display in the daytime, the brightness levels on the screen are quite sufficient to be legible in bright situations like directly under the sunlight. The screen can even go sufficiently dark when you are viewing the display during the night time and hence your eyes are not going to hurt during the night time and you can easily get a sweet sleep after the tearful day.

Performance

Vivo V11 comes with Snapdragon 660 SoC which is one of the most powerful chipsets available straight from Qualcomm. Although it happens to be in the mid-ranged chip category still is having the grunt to overpower the last year’s flagship chipset. Another thing to note is the AI chip which comes alongside the Snapdragon 660. Talking about the chip it packs Kryo 260 CPU in octa-core configuration, assisting the same is the Adreno 512 GPU and complementing the whole setup is a 6GB RAM option.

In the real world performance, you are for sure going to see a number of different scenarios where the phone will perform differently. When it comes to high-end gaming performance the phone will lag behind and for sure you are going to see lags and frame drops in extreme situations. But when it comes to multi-tasking and other such things the phone will be excelling in most of the situations and you won’t notice any kind of problem in loading time of the applications. Do note that the games will do load pretty fast and you will experience no lag in high graphics or normal situations but when you play on extreme graphics you will have problems with the frames.

Camera

Vivo V11 comes with two different camera sensor like every other device in 2018 happens to be. The first sensor which is the primary one is a 12MP one which comes with f/1.8 aperture. The other sensor which is more likely to be used as for depth sensing is one with a 5MP sensor. On to the sensors we have Phase Detect Auto Focus deployed and this makes them capable to focus at a nice pace with the help of single LED during the night time. On the front part, we have a single camera which is a 25MP unit. The lens is a fixed focused one with a f/2.0 aperture.

In real-world performance, the phone gets some great images, and for sure you are going to get some great images as in terms of low light and depth images. The front camera also gets the depth control with the single camera and works quite well. Although you might feel that it is from China the quality is not that great, but it is not the case, and indeed Vivo phones are known for the quality of images they produce, and same is the case with this one here you get both the front and rear camera same as it would in real life.

Battery

Vivo V11 is offered with a 3400 mAH battery which when accompanied by an 18W fast charger you will never have to wait for the phone to get a full charge, as you can easily top up the battery within a couple of minutes for the next 2 to 3 hours of talk. Do note that the battery will not last long when you are doing multi-tasking or any heavy task such as using the camera or using the processor for gaming or watching videos. Hence the phone will be great for normal tasks as even with just 20% battery you can get over 5 hours of talk time which is a really great number.

Verdict

Vivo V11 is a great unit and you will for sure fall for it by its looks, and even by the performance of the phone, even though it being not a costly product from Vivo. The Vivo V11 is a great device for people who are going to use the device daily to flaunt the product in their hand with the all screen front panel and the waterdrop notch and even the back panel which color shifts.
