Talking about the Mi-series of devices it is targeting the premium range of products while Redmi series have been targeting the cheaper variants of Xiaomi.

Hence talking about the build quality of the Mi-series of devices they are always great and leaves the best in class premium feel in one’s hand. Today we are going to talk about the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite which was introduced along with Xiaomi Mi 8, let us actually have a look at the device in detail in different sections and see if it is great going according to your daily usage to be your daily driver.

Design

Devices growing every year in terms of design language, this year Xiaomi have loaded the Mi 8 Lite with a better design than it was till last year. This year Xiaomi have loaded the front of the device with a notch, and even the front of the device at the bottom contains a chin. On the back, we have a really great looking phone that can be compared with most of the flagships. Here we have a glass sandwich design wherein we have the front and back of the device both with glass.

The rear view of the phone looks like a really great device because of the reflection that we get with the device. All the colors of the phone look quite great on the back with its reflective nature, and this does means that we are going to have a hard time keeping that portion away from the fingerprints from our dirty fingers. At the same time, the build quality of the device goes up due to the glass and metal sandwich and both giving strength to the other.

Display

Xiaomi loads the device with a 6.26-inch screen which is in a ratio of 19:9 and this results into the phone having a real tall display, but not as much as that of a Galaxy S9+ or any other device with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The panel is an IPS LCD one which churns out a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels and hence results into a pixel density of 403 pixels, the IPS LCD is capable of giving up to 16 Million different colors.

In real-world conditions, we have the screen with vivid and contrasting screen wherein we can say that the screen looks quite great and intimidating to the users so that they can easily count after the times their friend said about their best in class display on the Mi 8 Lite from Xiaomi.

We also have the phone loaded with a great display that it can be viewed in the bright sunlight, but not much and we have to adjust a couple of times when the sun is directly hitting at us. During the night screen is not an issue, but it might bother you if you view the screen daily at night, then the eyes might start to hurt you.

Performance

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 which is based on the 14nm technology takes the charge of performance department, although one can say that it is nothing much to admire. When it comes to the processor’s capacity we here have two different Kryo cores which will make sure that the phone runs cool.

Assisting the same is the Adreno 512 GPU which will do make a noticeable mark on the graphics output of the device. We do have 4GB RAM and 6GM RAM option onto the phone along with 128GB and 64 GB Storage options.

In a real-world performance of the phone, we can easily claim that the phone is having one of the best in terms of the competition, as when we are talking about the processor’s efficiency then it is great and that does make a difference with MIUI placed to power the same with kernels. The overall optimization of the phone encounters into action and hence we do get a better performance from the device.

While gaming you can easily see each and every frame coming out of the device and no thermal throttling taking place. In the day to day applications section the Xiaomi’s Mi 8 Lite does well and hence it takes the crown of the best in class performing device.

Camera

As per the tradition of the industry here we have two different cameras on the phone powering you to take clicks of the entire world. We have a dual camera set up at the back which happens to be a combination of a 12MP sensor which has an aperture value of f/1.9 with a pixel size of 1.4µm, while the other sensor is a 5MP one with an aperture value of f/2.0 and pixel size of 1.12µm. On the front of the phone, we have the most powerful of the lot at 24MP with a pixel size of 0.9µm.

Both the front and rear cameras work quite great when it comes to the daylight time, as the light is enough for a faster shutter speed and hence the sensors produce a crisp and great image of the overall surrounding resulting into a well-saturated image that is easily going to assist you to take the thrown on the social media for the best in class images via your new phone.

Even the front camera makes some great group selfies and hence you will be the king of the phone when you own a Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite especially when there are over 20 peoples in a group. Do note that all the images from the phone are great only during the day, in the night time the phone struggles badly and there are times when it faced a real hard time with blurry pictures both from the front and rear cameras.

Battery

Xiaomi loads the device with a 3350 mAh Battery and that makes the phone look really great in aesthetics due to its slim size. Coming to the processor it is developed on the power-efficient 14nm technology and that does help the phone to stay powered the whole day when you have a minimal social media work and the rest of the work is calling, standby and a couple of pictures with the device. Overall the phone makes it a great turn when it comes to battery life. If you are someone who games a lot then either keep a charger with you or a power bank to keep your phone charged all the time.

Verdict

Xiaomi Mi 8 lite is a great device that is going to win heart of most of the people, there are times when you will have a great experience using the phone all due to the great touch and display quality of the phone.
