SHARP Aquos Zero Review

If you have not heard about SHARP then they are the first in the industry to develop innovations on display. Yes, it is quite true, even the world’s first bezel-less phone was manufactured by SHARP and they had a best in class design on the mobile phone making it a great innovation but as it was not available worldwide hence was not able to gain the popularity.

The all-new SHARP Aquos Zero comes with an OLED display which is the first from the company, this makes sure that the company is really serious about the display’s and this particular phone is surely going to have a couple of things out of the box, so let us dig into the phone and see if it is worthwhile to look after the phone and give it a time, let’s see in the review ahead.

Design & Build

SHARP has made it sure that this phone has best in class looks and feel. Starting with the back of the device we have an aramid fibber back that makes this one of the first phone to come with one. This not only makes the device less hefty but also makes sure that the fit and finish of the phone is to the best so that all the people can turn and look after your phone.

Even the frame of the phone is made u of magnesium which makes the phone again a bit lighter. Talking about the placements as the back we have a single camera unit placed in the top center of the phone, and then we have the fingerprint scanner towards the very bottom.

On the front, we have the display but that is a really unique one that we have seen in the recent past. For the starters we have bezels both on the top and the bottom, then there is a notch on the top of the phone, and then a curved display. So this is for sure that the front of the phone is a real tough deal to understand and digest properly.

Talking of the in-hand feel of the device, as it was estimated by SHARP the all-new SHARP Aquos Zero feel the best and as the name suggests is really light in hand due to the material of choice that is used by SHARP.

Display

This is the major thing that is worth mentioning on the phone, starting with the size it is a 6.2 – inch unit which comes with a resolution of 1440 x 2992 pixels, all this is supported by the DCI – P3 color space and Dolby Vision hence you must not worry about the colors that are being emitted by this particular display unit.

There is even a Rich Color Technology in the mobile which makes sure that the best of the colors are displayed to you in any condition you are in. The display panel is the first in class from SHARP as it is an OLED panel. It is also curved from the sides as the OLED panel can easily be curved without any issue.

The display of the phone is a real deal to see in real life, when you are looking towards the phone you feel like it’s in reality. The colors on the display pop out with real joy, and when you watch the particular pictures you feel that they are just going to touch you in real, and same is the case with the videos.

When you are using the display in the bright sunlight there is a good amount of reflection but rest you can view the display fine, and same is the case with the night time, where you are not getting any pain to your eyes to view the display in the night time.

Performance

Loading the top of the line chipset on the all-new SHARP Aquos Zero is a smart move from the company. They have loaded this phone with the Snapdragon 845 chipset, this particular chip is equipped with the top of the line Adreno 630 GPU and happens to have 6GB of RAM supporting the same in order to give a best in class multitasking experience from the phone.

Snapdragon 845 does make sure that you are having a great performance in the whole gamut of this particular phone. Storage on this particular unit is 128GB and it is a UFS unit making sure that storing and retrieval doesn’t clutter the processing power of the phone.

In real-world usage, one can easily notice the different types of games running on this particular display with ease. Do note that this particular phone will have issues when you are playing games in QHD and hence do not play the games in QHD as there will be issues related to heating on the phone, although the decapitation is quite fast on this particular unit.

In daily usage, the phone has to excel and same is the case with the device, although at the end of the day you will be using this beautiful display equipped phone to the game, and that also works fine. Even multitasking is not an issue and 6Gigs of RAM is optimized with excellence.

Camera

On the rear we have a single lens on this particular phone which comes with a resolution of 22.6MP, aperture of this particular device is f/1.9 making sure that even the night time pictures are clicked with excellence. On the front we have an 8MP camera making sure that using these camera units are easy and without any issue.

There is a couple of AI feature loaded by the phone, but they are not much and at the end of the day you will feel the phone lacking features on to the Camera side of the phone.

In the real world when you watch the images they are great and colors do pop out, but that can even be the optimization of the display. In the true sense, this particular phone is not a device to take a lot of pictures and upload on the internet.

Still, the images from both the front and rear sensors are great and there are no issues with the phone in terms of a camera even during the night time hence night time photography can do wonders with this particular one.

Battery

This particular device comes with a 3130 mAh battery. Sharp made sure that SHARP Aquos Zero has to be light, but this does play a sharp dent on the battery life of the phone. The phone cannot last over 3 hours when playing games as the QHD+ panel require a lot of power to drive the pixels. In normal usage, there is no problem and the phone can do wonders with battery life as it can last over 18 hours on mixed usage. Hence overnight charges are compulsory on this device.

Verdict

SHARP Aquos Zero is a great device in the true sense with the great build quality and choice of materials. The display is one of the attractive points of the phone, and the same is the performance factor. The basic area where the phone is not able to do the best is Battery and Camera.
