Oppo K1 Review

Oppo K1 Review

Another device in the market from BBK electronics, this year they have been quite fast in releasing new devices. This year Vivo and Oppo have got their hands on the Qualcomm chips and most of the devices featured them, although they were quite on a costlier side still they made out well in terms of selection of the phones.

Another device from the company is the Oppo K1 which is a great device in terms of looks, but it is the overall device that people need to consider while taking it in hand and then in your pocket to see that if the particular phone is going to make it possible for the next couple of months and going to impress all the user’s friends in terms of performance too. Let us start with the review and see what this particular device is capable of.

Design & Build

The all new Oppo K1 comes with a reflective back at the back which is actually an aluminum one, on the front we have the display which comes with a bezel on the bottom, while the bezels on the side are not that prominent.

On the top, we have a teardrop notch on the mobile phone which is the unique thing as there are very fewer devices with such a form factor. Talking about the placements we have the Oppo branding at the back of the phone, on the top left corner we have the dual camera unit placed horizontally.

The device comes with the aluminum unibody device and on the front have the strongest of the glass on the front of the phone which is the Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Talking about the in-hand feel of the phone it is quite great and the overall build quality is also the best.

The phone feels tough in hand, and can easily handle the daily niggles of the life. On top of all these, the phone looks premium all due to the color shifting nature of the phone, and even the choice of premium materials onto the device.

Display

Oppo loads the all-new Oppo K1 with the top of the line 6.4 inch display which covers the front of the phone by 84.5% which is one of the highest by current standards. The display panel is a Super AMOLED one which is a really nice panel and happens to be in 19.5:9 aspect ratios.

The size of the display is 6.4 inches and comes with a protection of the top of the line Corning Gorilla Glass 5.  The resolution of the display is 1080 x 2340 pixels which are enough to create a pixel density of just over 400ppi at 402ppi, this makes sure that you are having the best in class sharpness onto the display which is the real flagship grade one.

On top of all the things in the current smartphone, it is the display of the phone, and the one equipped on the all-new Oppo K1 is one of the best, the colors on the display are the best and does display the best colors which are 8 bits in depth.

Talking about the sharpness and other ratios of the panel they are also great, and one thing to note is the daytime usage of the phone, as this particular panel is an AMOLED one it can be a bit of issue in the day because AMOLED panels at time have high reflective index and this is the case with this particular one, during the night it is not an issue unless you are using a Black Theme on the phone.

Performance

Oppo K1 comes with the top of the line Snapdragon 660 SOC which is developed on the 14nm platform. Assisting the processor is the Adreno 512 handling most of the graphical duties on the mobile device.

Talking about the RAM which will handle the multitasking process it is either 4GB or 6 GB making sure you have enough room to do all your daily task and doesn’t feel claustrophobic due to less amount of RAM and end up taking low on your expectations on how you use the device.

At the end of the day when you are using the phone for daily usage, you can note that app loading time of the phone is great. When you are using the phone for gaming then you can notice that most of the games work in full flow and you can easily get the maximum performance without any issue.

Even when you are using the phone for normal usage the applications load so well, and the multitasking time is saved quite a lot. When you multitask even the 6th and 7th application stay in the memory and hence you are not required to open them again and again. We can say that the phone is best optimized for utilizing most of the bit of the RAM.

Camera

Although the camera unit on this latest release is not according to the latest in the market, still there is a dual camera unit at the back, of which the primary lens is a 16MP one with aperture value of f/1.7 while the second sensor is a 2MP one with an aperture value of f/2.4, this one is basically used for depth sensing.

On the front, there is a single unit which is a 25MP one and comes with an aperture value of f/2.0. The front camera doesn’t have a flash while the rear also comes with just a single tone flash which is a high downside when you are photographing in the night.

When you click pictures via the phone you can easily get the best of the pictures in the daytime where even the bokeh mode of the phone works in the full go. Even the front camera of the phone can portray bokeh mode with just a single lens with the help of AI.

The colors on the phone are optimized to be popping out hence the saturation does feel a bit of overdone on quite a few images. Rest the images are great during the daytime and even in the night time if you have got some stable hands.

Battery

There is a 3600 mAh battery equipped on the all-new Oppo K1, and the phone comes with a 2A/5V charger which is not a fast charger indeed hence it takes a long 3 hours to charge the phone when you are even using the phone. If you are using the phone in the daytime then you can notice that the phone heats up and loses a bit of battery life a tad faster. Rest all is fine with the phone and you can get around 30 hours of mixed usage without gaming, with gaming you can get barely over 17 hours.

Verdict

Oppo K1 is a great device, and can easily be used by anyone like if you are someone who is old but like to take pictures and watch media then you will like. If you are a teenager and likes gaming and photos then again this is your pick, and many other people can try hands on this if you like gaming, a nice display, and good battery life.
