LG Q Stylus+ Review

LG Q Stylus+ Review

LG has been a brand which is pretty much close to the heart of many people in India. Life’s Good is something that their tagline had been, and most of the people went for the LG devices keeping the trust in the name especially in the area of electronics.

But in the past mobile devices from LG have been failing largely due to the strategy of the devices, the specifications, and the pricing of the phones. Otherwise, LG has been the capable brand which manufactured the Nexus 5 & the Nexus 5X devices.

Both the devices have been a success and even the LG G4 & some of the other G – series devices which got some unique factors like the LG G5 having the removable battery in the modern era too, and it was even a modular one.

Today we are going to talk about LG Q Stylus+ which was launched recently in India under the 25,000 INR price bracket, and this makes this device against many flagships and budget devices currently on retail, so let us see if the Q Stylus+ from LG will do some magic or even this device is going to fail like other launched in the recent past.

Design & Build

LG Q Stylus+ comes with a really tough design where it is offered with an aluminum frame build all along, this makes the phone a home of all the premium materials. Even on the front, we have a Gorilla Glass protected 2.5D curved glass.

This glass gives another structural integrity to the device and protects it in terms of heavy drops and other normal wear and tear. Coming to the in-hand feel of the LG Q Stylus+ it feels really great but being with a screen over 6.2” it is quite tough for us to hold in a single hand.

Talking about the placements of different components on the phone we have the front of the phone covered with a 6.2” display which has bezels both at the top and the bottom of the display. At the back, we have a single camera unit, with the fingerprint scanner and the flash placed vertically exactly in the center of the device. There we also have the Q Stylus+ branding and at the very bottom of the same center line, we have the LG branding too. The looks of the phone are quite great, and it turns out to be an overall good looking phone with a good feel in hand.

Display

LG has been really good at making the panels for any device, even today their LED panels for their TV sets are one of the best and competes with the top brands in the market. The same case is with the mobile devices too. We have a 6.2 – inch display which comes with a screen to body ratio of 80.2%. The panel used on the phone is an IPS LCD one which is capable of reproducing over 16 million colors.

In real-world performance, the phone produces some best of the colors that you will not be able to notice in much better devices too. Colors and Contrasts on the phone are at the top level on this particular device. When it comes to the brightness levels you can easily use the phone in the night as it can go really dark and you can still notice what’s there on the display hence it is pretty easy for you to talk with your loved ones at night without disturbing anyone.

But in the daytime using the phone in direct sunlight is an issue and hence you will have to go off the light and then see the phone, and this can be a large issue for someone who is daily outside in the market under the sunlight.

Performance

LG has loaded the LG Q Stylus+ with a MediaTek Chipset which is an Octa-core unit. The specific chip is the MT6750 and works quite well for handling the daily task. Helping the chipset is the Mali T860MP2, it is the GPU handling the graphics duty of the mobile phone.

The phone happens to have 4GB of RAM and 64GB Internal Storage. All these in accordance with each other will help the device to perform quite well, it will be the processor which will be lagging the device behind with the competition.

Talking about the real world performance of the phone it can easily make through the most of the applications with ease, and hence you can easily process each and every application with ease. Another great thing about the phone is that it is having quite a great multi-tasking capability, and LG have nailed the RAM maintenance in order to accommodate as many as applications that a person can work with. Gaming on the phone is not that great and you will have issues with high-end games when you want to look forward to gaming on the device.

Camera

Q Stylus+ comes loaded with a 16 MP rear camera, which comes with Phase Detect Auto Focusing System. For the front, we have a single 8MP Camera which comes with fixed focusing. As for most of the device, this device also comes with a fair amount of camera performance, and will surely be lagging behind with a couple of them in terms of overall performance. One thing to note from LG is its Camera APP UI which is quite good in terms of functionality.

In daily life, you will be appreciating the performance of the phone as you are going to get a lot of great pictures with these sensors. The phone is capable at least with the rear camera in terms of HDR photos, and some bokeh images, although note that in dark situations the phone will struggle and you will end up with blurry or grainy images.

The front camera of the device is quite capable and you will get good results in the daily performance, but at the end of the day when you are in bright situations you will have to use another phone otherwise images will be blown out, and same is the case during low light photography.

Battery

Containing a 3300 mAh battery the LG Q Stylus+ is much more capable of doing the daily task with ease. The processor included on the phone is capable enough to load the phone with a different application which comprises of social media and some other high-end applications and still leave a good amount of battery so that the phone can function the day long without any issue. Do note that if you are using the phone for gaming then at times you will have issues with the battery and you will need to charge the phone by evening.

Verdict

LG has made the Q Stylus+ capable to power the normal people to do their daily task. If you are someone who is looking for a device from a reputed brand to get over with your daily performance then this is the one to go.
