Samsung Electronics has removed the Adoptable Storage feature for the Galaxy S9 and S9 +, which allows you to combine the built-in smartphone storage with MicroSD memory cards from Android 9 Pie. This was noticed by users who received access to the update.
The disappearance of the function from the flagship smartphones firmware may mean that in the foreseeable future its operation will be limited for all compatible devices belonging to the Galaxy lineup.

For the first time, Adoptable Storage appeared with the release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and immediately received the approval of users, who positively assessed the new concept of memory allocation.
Thanks to the Adoptable Storage feature, Samsung smartphone users could use internal and external memory as holistic storage. This made it possible to install applications and download media files to a unified disk, which worked on a seamless basis.
Where Is The Function Of AdoptableStorage?
According to Samsung, it was decided to remove Adoptable Storage for two reasons. First, the company began to offer users of branded smartphones a sufficient amount of internal memory by default.
And, secondly, maintaining the functionality of the function had a negative impact on the speed of compatible devices. The fact is that most memory cards are much slower than the built-in SSD-drive, slowing down the performance of many tasks.
However, the majority of users polled by SamMobile edition reacted rather calmly to the news about the removal of the Adoptable Storage feature from the One UI firmware. According to them, they never resorted to its use, and therefore did not even notice its disappearance in the future. Particular indifference was demonstrated by the owners of flagship devices, which by default are offered from 64 to 512 GB of memory.
