Samsung Galaxy S10 Review

Samsung Galaxy S10 Review

It’s been 3 weeks now and I have been using this device called Samsung Galaxy S10. I have just been living with this new device, making it a part of me each day; it has become a family now. I have my SIM Card in it, I have taken photos, sent tweets, WhatsApp and what not, and for all of it, this device has been my choice for the past 3 weeks. S10 is a massive change and is the 2nd best improvement that Samsung has ever made in a phone after that from S5 to S6.

With insanely large storage of up to 1.5 Terabyte! Okay give me a pause here, gulp down the news guys, this phone comes with crazy storage capacity. Yeah so with such an amazing capacity, a 3 rare camera module, wireless charging, and many more amazing features, Samsung Galaxy S10 is both a reliable brand and a superb upgrade to the smartphone experience for the fond users.

Design and Display

So what greets you when you first open the phone? The display, of course, yes, the phone is intelligently designed to not make you feel any less good when it comes to life recognizing your face or fingerprints. On this note people, let’s observe a one-minute silence for our beloved Iris Scanner, which, unfortunately, no longer is a part of Samsung’s new range of smartphones.

The Iris Scanner, which has been on a range of phones by the brand ever since S8 series, has been removed in favor of the world’s first ever Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner. This scanner is Ultrasonic and not optical which indicates that it is faster and more secure, or basically, the one used by One Plus 6T. The security on Samsung has moved from the back of the phone to the front of the screen.

Keeping the face unlock still intact as the basic unlock feature, where the front-facing camera comes into action to recognize the face of the user to bring the phone to life. A really impressive spec about the phone is not that it’s got a really cool circular cut out or an almost bezel-free but the brightness of the phone.

The screen is amazingly bright and can be manually set to a maximum of 850 Nits, which is its maximum but when you move outdoor, it can go up to 1200 Nits, making it the brightest display on any smartphones at the moment. It has a super cool Infinity – O Display 3040*1440 that sums up to 550 pi, which is higher than any other variants.

Sadly again, the phone has said goodbye to the haptic home button too. Nevertheless, you don’t really need one, as the usability of the phone is all gestures based. The display of the phone is good enough to satisfy any user in the smartphone universe. The phone on unboxing reveals some amazing happy smiles as it comes with a Silicon Case packed inside the box, also, a screen protector, which Samsung terms as a protective film and nothing much can be expected out of it.

Talking on the lines of accessories, the company has given the market something to cherish. If you buy the black version of the S10, you would get the black accessories (headphones, charger, etc.) whereas, if you buy the white version or any other color for that matter, it is accompanied by white accessories. The brand surely knows how to find happiness in small things. Ting!

Performance

With so many new and wonderful additions, the phone is set to perform well enough and be an amazing rank holder. The performance of the phone will not be any doubt once you come to know that the phone holds a capacity of 1.5 Terabyte, (no rumors, it is a news guys!). The Galaxy S10 boasts its internal storage of up to 1 Tb and you can add another 512 GB via micro SD card for up to a revolutionary 1.5 TB of storage space, which people usually don’t get on a laptop or a desktop, well I for sure don’t have it on my Dell. So having this on a phone is absolutely crazy, also, when bundled up with a 12 GB of Ram, which concludes to be more powerful than your laptop.

Battery

The Samsung S10 packs in a 3400mAh battery, which is smaller than 4000mAh, but the battery life is good. When I use S10 as my primary phone for calls, games, media, etc. I start the phone with 100% battery and end the day with some 15% at a low power mode, which is not bad to keep.

The wireless charging feature of the phone, thanks to the power of fast charging 2.0, the phone wirelessly can charges faster than any previous Galaxy phones when you use a Samsung Galaxy Charger Duo Pad. In addition, the phone charges up to 15 Watts.

Wireless charging makes the phone not only a taker but also a giver. The phone from its backside can charge any other devices wirelessly. So if you are fond of the Galaxy Earbuds, then this feature is good to go technology innovation. Other than, that you can also charge your smartwatches, Apple watches, other smartphones or any other smart devices, which support wireless.

Camera

We get a 3 rare camera module with a Telephoto Mode at 12 MP, and wide-angle mode at 12 MP and an amazing ultra wide angle at 16 MP. The selfie camera comes at 10 MP along with an 8 MP depth sensor.

Performing equally amazing as any other phone in the range, the camera sensor of the phone has got almost everything one would look for, along with the ultra-wide range, the only disappointment being the lack of autofocus or the Optical Image Stabilization in the ultra-wide mode, which enables good photos but doesn’t do justice to the video feature as the videos are really shaky and there is no autofocus.

Samsung Galaxy S10 is congratulate-ably India’s first smartphone that is capable of recording 4K Ultra HD and HDR10+ video which keeps the scene as lively as it was when seen in person with the rich color of HDR10+ and Dynamic Tone Mapping, colors stay accurate in each scene.

Additional Feature

The phone comes with a Heart Rate and Oxygen level sensor on the back. The new thing is that the Oxygen sensor cannot be found even on the nest versions of smartwatches, which proves that the phone is smarter than many other smart devices.

Disappointment

A minor disappointment in the phone is the Bixby Button. Samsung has not yet shed the legacy Bixby button from its phone. However, this disappointment comes with a piece of grand news as the company announces that they will be releasing an update so that the users can actually remap the Bixby button officially from the OS. Finally, after so many years, Samsung has a remap able to button that you can remap to every app that you want or every function, which is awesome. We can finally use the button and the update will also work on the older version of the S and Note series. Waiting for the update Samsung!

Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy S10 is the finest Android phone you can buy at the moment. It has an excellent AMOLED display, resilient camera and a host of new accompaniments. It doesn’t set the standard for areas such as camera quality or battery life, but as a complete package does proper justice to what a buyer would want at a price range of INR 67,000. I am sure that’s exactly what Samsung was aiming for. Kudos to the brand.
