One of the product announcements that went under the radar at the Apple event was regarding the Apple Watch Series 5. While we have talked at length about the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro releases as well as iPad 7th generation launch, we have not told you much about our thoughts on the Apple Watch Series 5.
Is it worth upgrading?
One of the first things that come to mind when we look at the Apple Watch Series 5 is that it is an incremental update. By this, we mean that Apple Watch Series 5 is not a huge upgrade from the Watch Series 4. Now, this is not a bad thing at all as the things that were missing from Series 4 have been added to the Series 5.
However, you would have the question of whether it is worth upgrading from Series 4 to a Series 5. Therefore, here are our thoughts regarding the Apple Watch Series 5. First of all, it is worth mentioning that the Watch Series 3’s price has now been reduced and it starts at just $199. Thus, it could also be a great option if you are looking to get into the Apple Watch ecosystem.
Coming back to the Apple Watch Series 5, the first thing you will notice is that the display is now an Always-on one which was missing from Series 4. Also, the storage on Series 5 has been upgraded and the base variant now comes with 32GB storage compared to Series 4’s 16GB.
Apart from that, it is almost mandatory that the Apple Watch Series 5 has to be faster than the Series 4. Because of the fact that a new chip is inside the Series 5 as compared to its predecessor. Apple has also added a built-in compass on the Series 5 which should be great for hiking.
However, the downside is that the compass only works on an active internet connection. The only other change is that you can now make emergency calls to any country from the Watch Series 5. Thus, if you are someone who travels a lot then you might need to call emergency services outside of your country and it will come handy.
All the changes that you get on the Apple Watch Series 5 compared to the Watch Series 4 have been mentioned above. Note that the starting price of both the Watch Series 4 and 5 have remained the same at $399. So if the above features are something that you need badly then it is worth an upgrade to the Series 5 otherwise not.
