We have seen that the hacking incidents have become far too common in recent times and especially since the time of the Coronavirus outbreak.
One possible reason is that since everyone is working from home, they have become vulnerable to hacking because the home WiFi and internet mechanisms are often less secure.
Also, since the employees are working from home, the companies also have much less workforce and security often gets neglected. Talking about one such hacking incident which has been revealed, it is known that Thailand’s largest cell network AIS was breached recently.
However, the most worrying part is that the hackers got access to a massive database of records from the Thailand users of AIS. Due to this reason, it is known that billions of records from the said database have been found online.
According to the report, Thailand’s AIS pulled this database once it was found out that real-time records of millions of users resulting in billions of records were getting leaked out.
Now, this is a serious privacy issue because it would mean the hackers know what users on AIS are searching for and what they are doing which can be used for blackmailing them. Paine, a security researcher, also said that through the real-time data on what a user is doing, hackers can easily “paint a picture” of what they are doing.
It is known that Paine is also the one who has saved millions of Thai users on the AIS network from major damage because he is the one who reported the apparent security lapse to Thailand’s national computer emergency response team, known as ThaiCERT, which contacted AIS about the open database.
However, Paine says that he first contacted AIS about this open database but he did not get any response from them even after 7 days.
