Apple’s annual developer conference, WWDC 2019, commenced yesterday. And as we are familiar, we have the keynote before the developer conference as is the case with Google I/O. This year’s Apple WWDC 2019 keynote is believed to be the best so far. This is because the company had so many features and several products to announce.
As we expected, Apple announced iOS 13 which is the latest version of iOS. This new version of iOS brings a dark mode to iPhones. Also, Photos on iPhone has now been redesigned and it gives similar functionality as Google Photos. Apart from that, iOS 13 brings updates to Messages where you can see the name and photo of a user who you have previously shared messages with.
Apple also said that the focus with iOS 13 is on performance. The company claims that apps will load much faster on the iPhone with iOS 13. Also, FaceID will be 30% faster on iOS 13 compared to iOS 12.
After iOS, Apple announced iPadOS which is similar to iOS but for iPads. Prior to this, we only had iOS 13 which was somewhat optimized for iPads. But with iPadOS, we get much more features on iPad separate from iOS. iPadOS brings several new gestures which help in multi-tasking for power users. There are new split-view as well as quick app switching gestures on iPadOS.
We also got the latest version of macOS at WWDC too which is named as macOS Catalina. With macOS Catalina, Apple announced a new feature called SideCar which means you can now extend your Mac’s display to your iPad with ease.
Also, macOS Catalina brings some redesigns to Apple Photos, Mail, Notes and Reminders apps on the Mac. iOS 13 Developer Preview will be available starting today same as macOS Catalina Developer Preview. iOS 13 will be released publicly this fall which is when macOS Catalina will also be released.
