An Israeli firm accuses Apple of stealing dual camera technology used in its iPhones

Apple lawsuit

Apple lawsuit

We have seen that Apple gets sued by people as well as organizations time and again regarding various issues. Most of these lawsuits get turned down or are settled by the company. However, some of the lawsuits turn out to be accurate and Apple has to pay a fine for them. Now, we are not saying that this lawsuit is true or not. But an Israeli firm has accused Apple of stealing its patents which are said to be used in its dual-camera technology.

This particular lawsuit is related to the dual-camera technology which means they are only about iPhones with dual cameras. We have seen that Apple has used a dual camera on its iPhones since the iPhone 7 Plus. Corephonetics, a firm from Israel, says that Apple has used the zoom and other dual camera features on its iPhones that they have already patented. Now, Corephonetics has not filed a lawsuit against Apple for the first time either. For this very same reason, Corephonetics sued Apple earlier as well.

Corephonetics says that Apple infringed its patent on 10 of its iPhones including the iPhone 8 Plus, the iPhone X, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. If you are aware of the term ‘patent troll’, you would think that Corephonetics is one such firm. However, that is definitely not the case here. Because of the fact that Corephonetics is the firm responsible for Oppo Reno’s 10x optical zoom.

Apart from that, Corephonetics is also said to be bought by Samsung for an amount of $155 million. But Samsung decided not to make the acquisition of this firm public. Now that we know Corephonetics is a firm owned by Samsung, we can also imply that Samsung has sued Apple. This suggests that Apple is using the same camera technology which is used on Samsung’s dual-camera smartphones.
