Android Pie still doesn’t make appearance in Android’s October Distribution numbers

We know that Google releases Android Distribution numbers each and every month. This is a report or basically a chart which shows the percentage share of every Android version. This chart shows the adoption rate of the latest versions of Android.

Now, we have seen that Android Pie was released quite a while ago. Also, Android Pie is now available on all the current Pixel devices too. Apart from that, the Pixel 3 series also comes with Android Pie out of the box. Even then, there is no presence of Android Pie anywhere on this chart.

On the other hand, Android Oreo has now become the most used version of Android which is more than a year after Android Oreo was released. This means that there is a wide fragmentation in Android updates as we already know.

This is seen every year that the latest version of Android is nowhere in the charts whereas the version of Android released in the previous year tops the chart. Now, we should also add that Android Pie was released last month to OnePlus 6, Nokia 7 Plus as well as the Essential Phone. This gives some hope that Android Pie numbers will improve.

Furthermore, Pixel 3 and 3 XL will also go into more people’s hands with its sales now open. This also tends to suggest that the Android Pie numbers will improve. However, it is most likely that we will see Android Pie numbers to be above 10% in 2019. One reason for this is that more OEMs will release smartphones with Android Pie out of the box next year.

Apart from that, it is also worth noting that Android 2.3 Gingerbread is still being used by 0.2% of Android devices around the world. Now, 0.2% doesn’t like a big number. But, if you count the total number of Android headsets then it is still a large number.
