You must have heard a lot about the Apple event which took place just a couple of nights ago. At that event, Apple announced a whole bunch of products such as the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro series. Apart from that, Apple also announced the Watch Series 5 and the latest iPad 7th generation. Talking about the iPad 7th generation, it now comes with a 10.2-inch display rather than the previous 9.7-inch one. The biggest change on the iPad, however, is not in the hardware but in the software. Apple revealed the latest version of iOS optimized for iPad named as iPadOS at the WWDC 2019.

The first version of iPadOS, iPadOS 13, will come on all the newer iPads including the iPad 7th gen and the iPad Pro variants from last year. Now, we have already seen that the iPadOS is a major change from iOS that we were used to on the iPad. Apple has also revealed that September 30 is the date when iPadOS 13 will roll out in the stable channel to all the supported iPad devices.

Talking about the iPadOS, Apple says that it will bring desktop-class Safari experience to its flagship tablet lineup. Apart from that, better file management is also in store. You also get support for multi-tasking as well as better gestures for the split window. On top of that, iPadOS 13 will finally bring support for external media storage devices to the iPad. Apple hopes that all these features will make iPad, and iPad Pro, in particular, a viable alternative to PC.

As far as supported iPads receiving the iPadOS 13 are concerned, Apple has revealed that all iPad Pro models will be getting the update as expected. Other than that, iPad 10.2″ 7th generation 2019 model, iPad 6th generation 2018 model, iPad 5th generation 2017 model, iPad Air 3 2019 model, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 5 2019 model, and iPad mini 4 will also receive the latest update.
