Asus Zenfone Max – Z010D First Impressions

Today, the Taiwanese company Asus added another name to their device list with the Zenfone Max variant that coming with a Snapdragon 615 Octa core processor. The device is a true successor of the previous Asus Zenfone Max model which had Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor. The new variant is running on the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS with a lot to notice regarding the features and bug fixes. It has a price tag of Rs. 9999 which is quite understandable for an Octa-core smartphone.

Asus Zenfone Max is equipped with a 5.5-inch display with 720×1280 pixel resolution. As usual in Asus devices, the display performs well with adjusted contrast and brightness that even clear in extreme sunlight. From our tests, it processes high FPS games and HD videos impressively. The screen utilized the maximum area on the front, especially to the sides. But the upper and lower portions are nothing different than what we have seen in Asus smartphones for years.

Under the hood, there is 2GB RAM available to power the multi-tasking capabilities. After the system usage, about half of the RAM stays unused for the user operations. The device performed well from our quick tests and showed no lags in even running the Asphalt 8 in highest graphics. The graphic capabilities are enhanced by an Adreno 405 GPU that performing well. In the ROM section, it outperformed the previous model with the 32GB enhanced storage inside.

Coming to the camera, there is a 13.0 MP shooter on the backside with the LED flashlight. For enhancing the selfies, Asus has provided a 5.0 MP camera on the front placed on the usual location next to the speakers. Back camera outputs good quality images while the front camera is a little dim in low light conditions. But, it can be adjusted by the configurations to an extent.

A 5000mAh battery is another eye catcher on the smartphone. For a smartphone that priced just Rs. 9999, the 5000mAh is a big capacity. So, for the gamers and video nerds, this will be a blessing as they don’t even have to look to the wall socket entire day. The device is powered by two 4G LTE sim cards to power the connectivity. Nevertheless to say that the smartphone has all basic connectivity solutions like Wifi, Bluetooth, 3G, 2G, GPS, etc. The device comes in three variants as 2GB RAM – 16GB ROM model for Rs. 8,999, 2GB – 32GB for Rs. 9,999 and 3GB – 64GB for Rs. 12,999.

As per the reports, Asus will start selling the devices from this month itself and will distribute all over the world from the next month. By the end of the next month, almost all countries will get the pieces of the improved Asus Zenfone Max
