Asus just rolled out some of its artillery ready for launch, in Incredible India no less. Its medium-range device, the Asus Zenphone 3 Max is scheduled for blast-off somewhere in-country this day. The phone will come in two variants: a 5.2-inch beauty and a 5.5-inch leggier model to endlessly bewitch your life. To avoid confusion, the smaller model is called the ZC520TL, while the 5.5-inch version is similarly code-named the ZC553KL. Both share largely similar specifications, including a whooping 4100 mAh battery, hybrid dual-sim -micro and nano sim- and a fingerprint sensor on the back. OS on both is the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with some Asus ZenUI 3.0 overlaid on top like a second skin. Both are also metal unibody designs with 2.5D curved screens.
The smaller 5.2-inch Zen 3 Max sports an HD IPS screen with resolution set at a relatively pedestrian 1280 x 720. Punch power arrives via a 1.25 GHZ quad-core Mediatek MT6737T chip, with a respectable 3 GB of RAM. Internal storage is 32 GB readily expandable via SD card to yet another 32 GB. Cameras on this particular device are unspectacular and comprise a 13 MP back shooter and a 5 MP selfie-maker. Connectivity options include all the usual: 4G, Wifi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, and FM radio. Accelerator, gyroscope, light and proximity sensors make up the rest of the package. Battery performance is a rated 30 days of 4G standby time and 20 hours of 3G talk time. Weight is a manageable 148 grams.
Its more heavily buffed and bigger brethren, the 5.5-inch ZC553KL has a full HD 1080 x 1920 display. Power comes via a 1.4 GHZ Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset agreeably married to 3 GB of RAM. Cameras are a 16 MP back shooter with an f/2.o aperture, laser auto-focus, PDAF and dual-LED flash. And a lovely 8 MP selfie-lover delight with f.2.2 aperture and an 84 degrees wide-angle lens. Internal storage is 32 GB, expandable via SD card to 128 GB. Weight is 175g, while connectivity options and sensors include all of those of its little bro listed above. Battery strength is rated as 38 days of 4G standby time and 17 hours of 3G talk time.
A side note: with their ginormous battery juice, both smartphones can conveniently do double duty as a power bank and charge other devices. Price is Rs. 12,999 on the 5,2-inch version and Rs. 17,999 on the 5.5-inch heavier howitzer.
Colors are Titanium Gray, Glacial Silver, and Sand Gold. The 5.2-inch version is available in physical stores starting today. It’s more muscular, bro on the other hand is scheduled to be available before the end of the month.
