Canada’s first 5G network starts rolling out in four cities

One of the best things that we will see with the 5G networks around the world is the increase in speeds. While we had good speeds with the 4G network, the 5G networks will increase those speeds by many folds which should reduce the time taken to load a video, download apps and stream music as well as content online.

However, the biggest concern with 5G is that the networks are taking too much time to get established around the world. Also, we barely have smartphones that support 5G networks but that should be rectified once we see most of the flagships on Android and iPhones also adopting 5G.

Talking about 5G networks, we know that the only countries currently having 5G support are China, Europe and the US. Also, there are limited smartphones right now from Samsung and OnePlus that support 5G on different modes.

The neighbouring country to the US, Canada, however, did not have a 5G network yet.

But that will change very soon as Canada is now getting its first 5G network thanks to the Rogers network.

At the moment, we know that Rogers is rolling out its 5G network in four major cities of Canada which are Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver.

At the moment, we know that Canada does not have any smartphones which support 5G but that should happen soon and we will see people taking advantage of the greater speeds and reliability with 5G network as well.

Rogers has also announced that it will be using mid-band 5G which is one of the middle grounds between using a low-band 5G network of mmWave mode. For the low-band 5G mode, you get slightly faster speeds than 4G but better reliability. However, mmWave mode offers you superfast speeds up to 1Gbps but are extremely unreliable in daily usage.
