We have seen that many plans have been postponed, cancelled or even delayed and this goes for events happening around the world as well. Now, it was also true for digital services including Hotstar which is a famous online streaming platform in India.

Since Hotstar from Star Network is backed by Disney in India, it was obvious that the Disney+ streaming service will come with Hotstar in India. However, Hotstar delayed the launch of Disney+ in India which was set to take place in late March. The reason behind this was the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

Now, it looks like Hotstar and Disney have realized that enough is enough and they need to launch the platform. For this reason, April 3 is set to be the date when we will be able to enjoy the Hotstar content as well as Disney+ content on the same platform that is Hotstar. It is also worth noting that the annual subscription plan for Hotstar has also been increased from Rs. 999 to Rs. 1499 due to this integration.

However, existing customers who have the Hotstar Premium plan will be able to enjoy the new content for this cycle. It is obvious that people will go on to subscribe to Hotstar Premium’s current yearly plan before the prices increase.

Disney’s press release says that “Users with the premium subscription will be able to enjoy over 100 series and 250 superhero and animated titles, including Disney+ Originals and shows from HBO, Fox, and Showtime”.

Along with Hotstar Premium, there is a plan named Hotstar VIP that costs Rs. 365 per year and includes some of the premium content such as live cricket streaming and fresh new episodes before TV. It is known that this plan will also have a bump in price and the new Hotstar VIP plan will cost Rs. 399 for a year.
