Few Galaxy Fold devices are already broken; Samsung says they will “inspect these units”

Samsung Galaxy Fold damaged

Samsung Galaxy Fold damaged

You must be aware that the foldable smartphones were announced at the MWC 2019. These foldable smartphones were from the likes of Samsung and Huawei. As for Samsung, its foldable smartphone was named as Galaxy Fold. Huawei’s foldable smartphone, the Mate X, also comes with 5G support. However, we had our first look at the Galaxy Fold yesterday when it was shipped to reviewers in the US.

However, it did not turn out to be as smooth as Samsung would have hoped. This is because few of the reputed YouTubers and Journalists from the US reported that their units are already damaged. Now, this damage is caused to the inside screen of the Galaxy Fold only. We earlier heard that Samsung claims the Galaxy Fold can withhold up to 2 million folds in its lifecycle. But in just 24 hours, several units of Galaxy Fold are already broken.

On looking into this matter further, it is revealed that Galaxy Fold comes with a film on top of its display. Now, most of the users would think that this is a screen protector. However, it turns out that it is not a screen protector but a film meant to protect Galaxy Fold’s folding display. So the reviewers removed this film or damaged it and therefore, their devices are damaged.

But we also have reports from some who have not peeled of that film and then too their unit has been damaged. On this, Samsung has released a statement saying that they will “thoroughly inspect these units”. We also expect Samsung to clearly mention the instruction regarding not to remove the protective film from their Galaxy Fold units.

This is because the smartphone will go on sale next week in the US for the people who have pre-ordered. Also, we have seen many users cancel their pre-orders since this issue came into light yesterday.
