Google Is Facing Class Action Lawsuit For Tracking User Data In Incognito Mode

We have heard and seen from various industry experts that privacy is a myth in the digital world. This is because of the wide variety of issues that the internet has such as advertisement tracking as well as behaviour tracking and targeting as well as retargeting.

Now, there are some ways which people believe are some good ways in order to keep yourself private from the rest of the internet. These ways are VPNs or virtual private networks that take you to a different location from where you are so it is almost impossible for someone to trace your exact location. This also means that your search history is also not known because your virtual address also gets changed.

However, those who don’t know about VPN or don’t want to use it because of the hassle would simply use an incognito mode which is a simpler way to go private because in this mode, your cookies will not be stored as well as search history will not be stored as well. But last year, we saw that Google was found to be tracking incognito mode users as well and letting publishers know about the same.

This was after few sites were found to be telling their users to turn off incognito mode which is not supposed to be known to them. After this, Google said they will remove the ability to know about the incognito mode in a future update but that update hasn’t come yet.

Therefore, a new problem comes for Google as a class action lawsuit is on the verge of being filed against the company for this inaction. The plaintiff filing this lawsuit says that “millions of users” are affected by Google because they don’t tell its users about tracking even in incognito mode. But Google does not claim to not track users in incognito mode so this will also be interesting.
