Google Play Music shutting down for all starting in September

It is known that Google is a company which likes to keep on experimenting with things and it is also one of those firms that like to shut down a lot of things if they don’t seem to work out as planned. Also, we have noticed that there are a lot of competing products from Google to the ones they have launched previously. This is because the company keeps on improving its products by launching new ones and tests out which one works better. The best example of such practice would be YouTube Music and Google Play Music.

Both of these apps work in a similar manner where music is played offline and online but the difference is that YouTube Music has its library from YouTube whereas Google Play Music had a different library of songs. This is the reason why we felt that YouTube Music, having a wide variety of songs, was better and Google also feels the same. That’s why Google is shutting down Google Play Music in favour of YouTube Music for everyone starting September 2020.

So you will not be able to use the app after this year since it will start to go down for users starting September and will be shut for everyone by December. Google reveals that this shutdown will start from New Zealand and South Africa in September and then spread to other countries in the coming months. Also, you will not be able to purchase music from Google Play Music starting this month.

Those who already use YouTube Music will see a transition option to bring their libraries and tracks from Google Play Music and that option will come handy for a lot of them. Don’t worry if you have used Google Play Music because you will be able to transfer everything such as “playlists, artists, albums, songs, purchased content, recommendations, and uploads”.
