Google runs the Android operating system and provides support for a billion smartphones around the world. However, we know that Android is nothing without its apps. And the best way that you can download or buy Android apps is the Play Store, now called the Google Play Store. As far as the Google Play Store, it has the most number of applications in any application store out there. But its also a known fact that Apple’s App Store earns more revenue with half the number of apps.
One of the reasons for this is Android app developers rely on advertisement for its app. Whereas iOS developers rely on paid app purchases for revenue. Talking about the Google Play Store, we know that the store did not get a big redesign for a long time. But it seems as if the time has come for the Play Store to get a redesign. We know that most of the Google apps are getting a redesign on the Material Design theme and same goes with the Google Play Store.
Starting today, a redesign to Google Play Store is rolling out. Talking about the redesign, we can see that the theme is mostly white. Most of the areas of Play Store’s UI have been redesigned. This redesign to the Google Play Store is rolling out with version 15.1.24 of the app. One of the biggest changes that you will notice is that the navigation bar has been moved to the bottom.
This is a change that Google has done in its updated Material Design guidelines. Now, this change is also good because, with the increasing size of smartphone displays, it became awkward and difficult to reach the top of a display. Other than that, the app listing page is also changed with the ‘Install’ button now much bigger than earlier.
