Google is progressively enabling connected app support within its Search AI Mode, allowing seamless integration with select third-party services. This extension, which has been part of the Gemini app, brings new functionalities directly into Google Search.
Enhanced Interaction Capabilities
With these new connections, users can leverage AI Mode for diverse tasks such as assembling grocery carts, identifying design formats, and piecing together playlists. Currently, it supports integrations with leading apps like Instacart, Canva, and YouTube Music.
Through Instacart, users can effortlessly compile grocery lists and add items to their shopping cart for final checkout using Instacart’s app or website. In terms of design, AI Mode can showcase Canva templates or assist in formulating design concepts for various projects, from flyers to posters. Additionally, playlist creation and saving can be executed with AI Mode through YouTube Music.
Utilizing AI Mode with Connected Apps
To start utilizing connected apps:
- Open Google Search on your computer and activate AI Mode.
- Access AI Mode via google.com/ai.
- Input your request in the Ask anything bar.
- If a necessary app isn’t linked, AI Mode will prompt you to connect it.
- If already connected, proceed with your tasks seamlessly in AI Mode.
Sample queries might include:
- “Prepare a grocery cart with healthy options for eight guests.”
- “Compile a playlist featuring popular Bollywood hits from the last decade.”

Upon request completion, users may navigate to the associated app to conclude their tasks. Instacart and YouTube Music provide avenues for further management and enjoyment, respectively, while Canva serves as a hub for design adjustments and downloads.
