There is a new case of hackers breaching private documents and exposing secret projects. This time, the breach has taken place in Russia as hackers intruded into one of the contractors of Russian Intelligence. Russian Intelligence service FSB’s contractor was reportedly breached and the secret documents were compromised. However, these secret documents reveal something that is going on inside Russian Intelligence FSB.
Out of the documents that were revealed thanks to the hack, one of the documents revealed a secret project the FSB was working on. Apparently, this contractor was working on a way to de-anonymize Tor traffic for FSB. If these documents had not leaked, we would never have learnt about this secret project from FSB. Now that we know about it, it is pretty alarming.
If you don’t know much about the Tor project, it is secret internet also called the dark web. There are various things that happen on the Dark Web but they never come out in open and they should not as well. Some reports also say that the deals for contract killing, murders and various other things happen on the dark web. However, they are kept anonymous and no one is able to track users on the dark web.
A group of hackers named 0v1ru$ breached the system of Russian Intelligence contractor named SyTech. More than 7.5 TB of data was hacked by these group from SyTech which had a huge amount of private and confidential data including secret projects. These group also shared the data with Digital Revolution which is another hacking group. Digital Revolution had hacked another Russian Intelligence contractor named Quantum last year.
The information obtained from these hacks were released on Twitter by 0v1ru$ and Digital Revolution and they also shared this with the Russian media. There was another secret project to collect data on Facebook and LinkedIn users being worked upon as well.
