Huawei has been in the news for quite some time now. We saw that the company recorded profits for the last two years in the worldwide markets. Also, Huawei is becoming one among the top contenders in the smartphone industry. The company is always known for making inventions with their flagships. At the MWC 2019, we saw Huawei launch the Mate X which is its first foldable Android smartphone. As for the Mate X, it is also Huawei’s first 5G phone apart from being foldable.

But Huawei has not stopped with the Huawei Mate X just yet. The company has announced its first non-foldable 5G smartphone too. This smartphone from Huawei is named as the Mate 20 X. Now, the Mate 20X looks very similar to the Huawei Mate 20 which was launched last year. It is entirely possible that this is just the Mate 20 along with 5G support.

The company has not revealed anything regarding the smartphone including its price and specifications. However, the smartphone is a part of the Mate 20 lineup and comes with similar specifications. Regarding the price, the Mate 20 X should be priced close to the Huawei Mate 20’s pricing. We do not expect Huawei to price this phone anywhere near the Huawei Mate X range.

Huawei’s Mate 20 X

Some details of the Huawei Mate 20 X are, however, available to us. According to reports, Huawei Mate 20 X will be powered by Kirin 980 SoC from Huawei’s HiSilicon department. The smartphone will have a Balong 5000 5G modem for 5G support.

Huawei claims that Balong 5000 is the first modem which supports standalone and non-standalone network architecture on 5G. This obviously means that the Snapdragon X50 5G modem does not support one of these architectures.

On the other hand, Huawei Mate 20 X’s display is expected to be a massive 7.2-inch Full HD+ one. The device will also have a triple camera set up on the back same as the Mate 20 Pro.
