Huawei has just announced what we did not want to hear but was expected. It is that the Huawei Mate X foldable smartphone’s launch is also delayed. With the Mate X being delayed, we have our second foldable smartphone which is delayed. Earlier, Samsung and Huawei both announced their foldable smartphones, Galaxy Fold and Mate X, respectively at MWC 2019. Although we did not hear from Huawei regarding Mate X after its announcement, Samsung announced Galaxy Fold launch date.

Also, Samsung sent out its Galaxy Fold to reviewers for initial testing and impressions. However, it all became messy when review units started breaking and getting damaged. Some of those units were damaged on its own whereas some of them got damaged because of reviewers’ mistakes. Nonetheless, Samsung recalled the Galaxy Fold units and found the design flaw in its $1980 smartphone.

Later, Samsung said that its Galaxy Fold launch has been delayed. After that, Samsung has not announced anything regarding Galaxy Fold’s launch. Now, Huawei has said that it wants to be more “cautious” regarding the Mate X after seeing Samsung’s Galaxy Fold. The official spokesperson reveals that Huawei has delayed its Mate X foldable smartphone launch until September as more testing is needed for its display.

Apart from that, the Huawei spokesperson says that the company does not want to harm its reputation by releasing a faulty Mate X. But the good news is that Huawei Mate X will run Android OS as the device was already announced before Huawei got blacklisted in the US. This means that Huawei Mate X had acquired the license to run Android. Huawei’s spokesperson said that it is “confident” it can deliver this device to consumers even with the blacklisting in the US.

On the topic of replacing Android for Huawei phones, Huawei spokesperson said that “We don’t want to go for our own systems; we still very much like the co-operation with Google in the past few years. If we are forced to do it by ourselves, we are ready. We can do in the next six-to-nine months,”
