Huawei reportedly boosted performance to get higher benchmark scores of its latest smartphones

Huawei, one of the biggest smartphone manufacturer, finds itself in a hole which the company dug for itself. The company is caught cheating with its latest smartphones where the performance was boosted to get higher benchmark scores. This was found out by a popular website known as Anandtech.

The website released a detailed report attaching all the proofs which suggest that Huawei has been knowingly manipulating benchmark scores. Basically, this method of cheating is not surfacing in public for the first time and Huawei is not the first company caught for doing it either. How this works is that Huawei has programmed their smartphone’s software in such a way that the performance of it is boosted much higher whenever the phone detects that a performance test is running.

Earlier, we saw that OnePlus was also caught doing the same thing for their OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. However, the company quickly rectified their blunder and promised that they will not do the same again. As a consequence of Huawei being caught cheating, 3DMark has delisted Huawei smartphones from their list. 3DMark is a very popular benchmark test app which lists out scores from all the latest smartphones after performing the test.

Since Huawei has been known to manipulate their benchmark scores, the company has decided that there is no point in listing their scores on 3DMark which makes sense as well. 3DMark has also revealed that the smartphones delisted from their benchmark list are Huawei P20, P20 Pro, Nova 3 and Honor Play.

If you may have noticed, all the above smartphones have been released in the past 6 months or less. Now, it is worth noting that there is no point at all in boosting performance especially for the benchmark tests other than of course, boasting about them. There is no difference in day to day usage and the performance will increase only during a performance test which is useless.
