We have known that if you are a celebrity or somewhat popular, there is every chance that you might get cyber-bullied. This is because people pay attention to each and everything that you do and post on social media. Now, one of the biggest platform known for this purpose is Instagram.

We have seen that people get “trolled” for posting things. Now, trolling can be healthy and fine but it can also be dangerous if it crosses a certain limit. There are many cases of people going into depression because of this bullying on Instagram.

It looks like Instagram is now taking the matter of bullying very seriously. Because the company has launched two new tools in order to combat the menace of bullying. The first tool for combating bullying is based on AI which warns people against posting comments that might be offensive.

The other tool shadow ban account that users don’t want to interact with. This means that instead of blocking accounts, you can shadowban them.

Although Instagram head Adam Mosseri says that the tools might not be perfect, they will still have a positive impact. So the first tool will ask people if they really want to post the comment which might be offensive. The idea here is to shame people for posting such type of comments but there is nothing this tool can do if the user confirms to post the comment.

The second tool named Restrict will restrict people from interacting with you. This means that they will be restricted to themselves only. In fact, restricted people’s comments will not be seen by you and their comments can be seen by them only. While the first tool is already rolled out, Restrict will be rolled out in the coming months by Instagram to make its platform nicer for everyone.
