Microsoft Discontinues the Xbox 360

Sad news to the gamers. Microsoft discontinues the Xbox 360 devices, and they officially stopped the production by this month. After a long journey, now they decided it is the time to take a break to one of the most successful gaming consoles in the globe. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer wrote on the official Xbox website.

“Xbox 360 means a lot to everyone in Microsoft. And while we’ve had an amazing run, the realities of manufacturing a product over a decade old are starting to creep up on us. Which is why we have made the decision to stop manufacturing new Xbox 360 consoles. We will continue to sell existing inventory of Xbox 360 consoles, with availability varying by country,”

Stopping the production doesn’t mean they are stopping the services. The current Xbox 360 users will get all benefits as they were till now. The live services and online multi-player games also won’t be affected by the decision. Which means, they are only stopping the production of the devices and decided to continue the assistance, the software related developments and maintenance of the product.

The Xbox 360 devices weren’t set any sales records neither the product wasn’t a lose. The device was very popular among the gamers and was maintaining a good number of sales. But, Microsoft may have decided to concentrate on some other products by stopping the 360 production. As they are always looking for new innovative products that will boost them as usual, they will be trying to bring another version of the console soon.

Currently, in Xbox India website, the Xbox 360 is priced Rs. 12,990 for the 4GB version with Peggle 2 while the 500GB variant with Call of Duty Ghosts and Call of Duty Black Ops II costs Rs. 21,990. By the discontinuation of the production, the value of the product will increase on the market. Naturally, in coming days, the device will only be available at a higher rate than the normal price.
