Most of us have realized the fact that the beloved 3.5-mm headphone jack is gone. And we have to accept that wireless is the future. All the major tech companies which have removed the headphone jack from their devices have provided wireless alternatives. One of the most popular ones among them are the Apple AirPods. Apple released its first generation of AirPods alongside the iPhone X when it ditched the headphone jack. Later, Google also removed the headphone jack from its Pixel phones and provided Pixel Buds.

Recently, we saw Xiaomi launch its AirDots which is a pair of wireless earbuds as well. However, none of them is as popular as the Apple AirPods. This is because the AirPods from Apple have a brilliant design and great usability. Now, Microsoft wants to challenge Apple in this department. Microsoft will do this by launching its own pair of wireless earbuds. This earbuds are reportedly named Surface Buds.

Thurott.com reports that they have been codenamed as “Morisson” and are already in development. Also, the reports suggest that this wireless earbuds from Microsoft will complete its array of sound devices such as over-ear and in-ear. This is after the company launched its Surface Headphones last year.

We also have the first concept of the Microsoft Surface Buds which are going to be released soon. They have Microsoft branding on both the earbuds and are designed very differently than the AirPods. The report also claims that the Surface Buds will have full Cortana Integration as well as Noise Cancellation. Also, there will be a new feature which will “improve interactions between a phone and the earbuds to make reading content easier on the phone”.

As for the launch of Surface Buds from Microsoft is concerned, Thurott.com is not sure about the timeline. They say that 2019 launch is likely but the project can get delayed as well.
