Xiaomi launched a new smartphone a few months ago named as the Poco F1. Now, this smartphone is launched as part of a new company from Xiaomi known as Poco. This new venture from Xiaomi launches smartphones with flagship specifications at a budget price. Also, Poco uses the inventory from Xiaomi as well so the costs are reduced greatly.
Now, we all know that the Poco F1 launched in India as well as various other countries already. Also, Poco F1 or Pocophone F1 has created a stir in the industry. This is because the smartphone offers specifications similar to the OnePlus 6 at almost half its price. This is same as OnePlus when they launched the OnePlus One. The OnePlus One offered flagship specifications at budget too. Therefore, there are many similarities between Poco and OnePlus.
However, the major difference between the two is in terms of software. On one hand, OnePlus became popular due to Cyanogenmod on its OnePlus One. We now know that CyanogenMod is dead and has been replaced by LineageOS. So, OnePlus has switched to OxygenOS which offers near stock experience. But the Poco F1 users get a modified version of MIUI on their devices. This means that the fans of MIUI will love it but the others users won’t.
Another thing of concern is software updates for Poco F1 as Xiaomi’s MIUI is not very popular in the software update department. Poco has now announced, however, that Poco F1 will get MIUI 10 starting next week. MIUI 10 is the latest version of MIUI but it is still based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Therefore, you will not get the latest version of Android yet. Even then, an update should be welcomed as it comes with bug fixes and improvements to the device. Stay tuned as the MIUI 10 rollout for the Poco F1 will start from next week onwards according to the company.
