There has been an announcement from Nintendo which the fans won’t be happy about. Particularly, the announcement is directly related to the Nintendo Wii users around the world. The world’s largest content streaming website, Netflix, will no longer be available on Nintendo Wii. Yes, the company will end support for Netflix streaming early next year. To be precise, the Nintendo Wii users will not be able to stream Netflix after January 31, 2019.

Now, this announcement is not from Netflix. Rather, Nintendo has dropped support for Nintendo Wii’s Netflix streaming. This decision from the company is very strange. However, there is a reason behind it as well. The reason is that the Nintendo Wii has become old and also the fact that the company wants to boost sales of its newer consoles. Therefore, it was expected that Nintendo will limit the console and the inevitable has now happened.

If you are one of the users of Nintendo Wii who used it solely for streaming Netflix than it is no longer possible. Also, Netflix does not have any solutions for this too. The company gave a statement saying that “We hope you’ll soon enjoy an even better Netflix experience with additional features on a supported device,”. This essentially means that there is nothing Netflix can do about it and you are forced to buy a new Nintendo (or any other company’s) device.

The fact that the Nintendo Wii was launched in 2006 is a huge statement on its longevity and popularity. The users still love their 12-year old gaming console. However, there is not much you can do now on the Nintendo Wii. You can still play games but only those which are available to you offline via physical copies. Therefore, we are afraid that you will have to retire that beloved Nintendo Wii of yours at long last.
