Nokia Tipped To Unveil Premium Smartphone With Snapdragon 835 Processor By Q2 2017

Nokia

Nokia is expected to launch a flagship smartphone powered by the next generation Snapdragon 835 processor in June 2017. Based on the available rumors, the upcoming smartphone will be available in two display variants.

According to MyDrivers, the rumored Nokia handset will be available in 4GB and 6GB RAM with different internal storage capacities. We expect 4GB RAM option to integrate 32GB storage and 6GB model to ship with either 64GB or 128GB storage capacities.

Nokia handsets will have unibody metal design

Although we don’t have any accurate information about the display variants, we expect the new handset to ship with 5-inch and 5.5-inch models. Moreover, the handset will be manufactured using unibody metal design. When it comes to the optics segment, the forthcoming Nokia handset will be infused with a 23MP rear camera sensor.

Possibility of a dual camera almost certain

We also expect the addition of a dual rear camera in the higher display model such as a 16MP sensor coupled with an 8MP sensor to compensate the color variations while capturing images in low-light conditions. If Nokia manages to release a dual-camera handset, then it will compete with the likes of iPhone 7 Plus and the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8+.

Say goodbye to Carl Zeiss technology

If you rewind back, Nokia is well known for infusing premium quality camera sensors. However, you need not have to expect either Carl Zeiss or PureView sensors on the rear side. The main reason is attributed to the fact the Finland-based company has already confirmed that the smartphones will not beat sensors manufactured using Carl Zeiss technology.

Regarding the cost, the smaller model will be available at CNY 4000 with the big brother likely to hit retail shelves at CNY 4500. However, there is a possibility for the company to reduce the cost to some extent to combat extreme competition.

At the recently concluded MWC 2017, HMD Global unveiled a wide range of smartphones such as Nokia 6, Nokia 6 Arte Black Limited Edition, Nokia 5, and Nokia 3 including the relaunch of the vintage Nokia 3310 in a refreshed style. Nokia has handed over the design, production, manufacturing and distribution related activities to HMD Global for 10 years.
