We have seen that the pandemic situation in India and all over the world has forced everyone to think differently and do what is right for them and their economy.

This is the reason why we feel that the countries are moving towards closed borders in terms of the business meaning that countries will focus more on making products rather than exporting them from manufacturing hubs like China and others. There is also a sense of patriotism incited into the people by their governments encouraging them to buy country-made products instead of the global imported products.

This is same for India as well ever since Prime Minister Modi came live and addressed the Indian citizens saying that the government is pushing for ‘Made in India’ products due to this pandemic which will encourage the local economy and get the money flowing.

Now, we were also waiting to see how the companies will react to this announcement from the Indian Prime Minister because we felt that China would be triggered by this speech. However, we are getting the first reaction from a major smartphone manufacturer from China and it is a very positive one.

OnePlus India’s General Manager has come out in support of Indian Government’s “Made in India” movement saying that they will start to release the first OnePlus 8 series phones made inside the country at its Noida factory by May-end. It is worth noting that even though most of the parts for these phones would be imported, the costs would come down since the entire phones are not being imported.

This also falls in line with reports that the Indian lockdown will be relaxed in the fourth phase and that much of the economy will be allowed to reopen. Thus, it is understandable that OnePlus would want to start its smartphone sales once again.
