OnePlus Teases Its First Foldable Phone Name As OnePlus Open

OnePlus, the renowned Chinese smartphone brand, has been generating considerable buzz with its first-ever foldable smartphone. Recently, the company dropped a hint about the moniker of this anticipated device through a tweet on July 26. During the Mobile World Congress (MWC) earlier this year, OnePlus officially announced its venture into the foldable smartphone market and assured a release in the third quarter.

At the OnePlus 11 launch event, glimpses of the foldable were also shared. With its tweet, “We OPEN when others FOLD,” OnePlus strongly alludes to its forthcoming foldable smartphone, which is widely speculated to be named “OnePlus Open.” This exciting handset is poised to rival Samsung’s latest foldable offerings and join the ranks of the Google Pixel Fold.

During the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in 2023, OnePlus made a noteworthy revelation, confirming its development of a foldable smartphone. Further excitement ensued when the company offered a glimpse of the device at the OnePlus 11 smartphone launch event.

According to reports, the anticipated OnePlus Open foldable phone is likely to arrive in two attractive color options – black and green. Speculations suggest that the device might initially launch in China, followed by a global release in countries like India and the US.

As for its internals, the purported OnePlus Open is rumored to be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, complemented by 16GB of RAM and a generous 256GB of inbuilt storage. The smartphone is said to sport a 7.8-inch 2K AMOLED primary display, delivering stunning visuals, along with a 6.3-inch AMOLED cover screen featuring a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The combination of powerful performance and cutting-edge display features makes OnePlus Open an enticing prospect for smartphone enthusiasts worldwide.

Named OnePlus Open, the foldable handset is anticipated to be in the size range of popular models like the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Pixel Fold, Vivo X Fold 2, and Huawei Mate X3. It is expected to pose strong competition to recently released devices like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. Smartphone enthusiasts eagerly await its official debut in the market.
