We know that the first quarter of every year is a dull one in terms of smartphone launches as only Samsung and LG are known to traditionally launch their phones in this period. While saying that, we do know that there are tech shows at the beginning of every year which keeps the public’s interest in the technology world like the CES and the MWC. While the CES takes place in Las Vegas every year in January, the MWC happens in Barcelona in the following month. It can also be said that the technology we see at this tech shows is also what we can expect in smartphones for that year.
Talking about technology and smartphones, we have a surprise announcement from OnePlus. The company has revealed that they will be present at the CES 2020 which will take place in the second week of January next year. Regarding the announcement from OnePlus, they say that a special event is scheduled by them for January 7. As far as the special event is concerned, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau tweeted that they are going to show “something special” and this could be literally anything.
Now, there are speculations that this might be the launch of OnePlus’ mid-range phone rumoured to be named as the OnePlus 8 Lite. However, the fact that OnePlus CEO wrote that “We’ll show you something special” means that they are going to showcase a new product.
As far as we know, OnePlus would not make a fuss about launching new mid-range phones this much. So it might also be that the company will “show” their truly wireless Bullets Wireless earbuds. It can also be that OnePlus will show their first global 5G smartphone at the event which will be released later next year. A possible clue from the poster’s colour which is Orange & Black, same as McLaren 5G phone so it might be something related to that.
