PS4 restricts sharing of Fortnite account with Nintendo Switch and Xbox One

Fortnite Surpasses $100M Revenue Figure in just 90 days on iOS

Fortnite players are unable to share their accounts in Xbox One or Nintendo Switch with PS4. Sony is known for such restrictions in the past. Minecraft is one such popular game, which shares the same fate of Fortnite, for a long time. Compared to the active player’s count, Fortnite is enormous. It is growing every day, which urges the PS4 makers to answer this cross-play blockage.

Fortnite, a Battle Royale game, which is a similar game like the revolutionary Player Unknown’s Battle Ground (PUBG). While the PUBG is ruling battle royale arena in PC and recently the smartphones, Fortnite, which came later, occupied the PS4 and got hit like anything. Even Fortnite managed to earn more than PUBG. Both the games are expanding their player base by launching their games for multiple consoles and platforms.

Fortnite, which began its run at PS4, now facing the account sharing restriction from Sony. At the same time, the game account can be shared between Xbox One and Switch, without any restrictions. While PS4 deny sharing accounts with other consoles, it still allows PC and iOS users to share their accounts.

But, a question. Why Fortnite players in PS4 want to play the same game in Switch? The reason is the portable nature of Switch device. PS4 is like a PC, while the Switch devices can be taken with us, where ever we go. Maybe Sony thinks PS4 is the best selling console around the world and as a market leader, they don’t need to share accounts with their competitors.

Fortnite was downloaded more than two million times within 24 hours of the release. Across the consoles, the game managed nearly 125 million players around the globe.  It is a free to play the game, unlike PUBG, which needs a paid subscription to download in PC.
